Review: Morten_HD has only released one single through Visual Disturbances, thus far, but it hasn't taken the artist long to establish a concrete selection of ethereal bass sounds. Lying somewhere between grime, electronica, and the totally surreal, Morten_HD paints a foreboding picture of dance music, one that spews sinister sounds recalling the medieval. His latest release is an LP - out through Apothecary Compositions - and it's a chilling journey down the deepest, darkest abysses of bass music. Throughout its fourteen segments, it is clear that HD's inspirations come form the archaic and the gothic, with almost every tune containing elements of the ancient, whether through its baselines, or pads and chords. Imagine a world in which grime was made and played during the Black Ages, and you're almost there. Chuck in little bit of a DMZ sensibility and you're on a home run. Fresh and mind-bending. Check it.
