Review: Fresh off a kickin' release by label Daniel Steinberg just last week, Berlin's Arms & Legs are straight back at it with label co-head Kristin Velvet serving up some similarly smooth house on "Memories" on which the Watergate resident takes elements of Chicago house and Detroit techno and presents them in a fresh format. Her track from last year "Eat The Drum" receives a powerful remix by Brighton duo Prok & Fitch, who inject a druggy, bass heavy bounce into the Eat The Drum Remix, while the Eat The Groove Remix goes down a slinky minimal tech house route.
Review: Arms & Legs co-head (with Nils Ohrmann & Kristin Velvet) Daniel Steinberg carries on with his prolific output for the label's 101st release. "Free Love" is a proper good old fashioned funky house anthem by the Berlin veteran, and we're pretty sure it's going to be receiving major club play this year. Think of classic Defected or Soulfuric and you'll get the right idea. Second offering "Silk" is a deeper affair; more on the jazzy and low-slung tip which is perfect mood music for the warm-up slot.
Review: This Berlin tech house hero delivered the brilliant Left Handed album last year on his Arms & Legs imprint which he runs with Nils Ohrmann. It now gets remixed and what a tremendous roll call there is on this one, where do we start? Maybe with the undisputed legends that he tapped first, such as Chicago's Paul Johnson who gives "Bones" that distinct kind of boompty bounce that only a Windy City DJ can. Speaking of which, Chi-town legend Robert Armani is back on the scene it seems and gives "Punch' a jacking hard house remix that calls to mind the sound of classic imprints like Relief Records or Dance Mania. Toronto deep house legend Nick Holder also makes a comeback with his remix of "No One Can Change Me" which is exactly the kind of bittersweet and emotive deepness you always remembered him for. Big shouts to UK legends 808 State and Crazy P who deliver some great renditions too.
