Review: Rolling in the manor with the ratta ta taahh... Sheffield's Teedee makes his debut on Nu Wave with this one-track gun-finger salute. Rolling deep with Prezz Montana and Don Dappa, there's a sharp, hooky grime feel as Teedee rolls between spacious beats and a chugging 4x4 while keeping the lava-like low end oscillations flowing. Smoking.

Review: If you ever wanted to know what a collision between a garage juggernaut and a wobble techno would sound like, well, "My Dress" is it. Sirmo weaves a quirky snippet of film dialogue around lively hi-hats and juddering bottom end for an explosive floor-filler. The Dappa VIP version dubs things out slightly and adds an extra little spring in its step. However the monster track here is Steve Brooke's remix which adds another nastier bassline and more of a garage swing for maximum dancefloor damage.

Review: There's no denying DJ Direct doesn't fool around, as you'll soon find out on this single - 'I'll shoot ya bruv' one sampled lyric seems to say. The original version is a super bouncy club track with a kick, clap and stack combo to boot, while Wolfe's remix reworks bass to the front of the mix while remixing the track's arrangement for something different. Dangerous UKG - don't front.

Review: Hungarian heaviness UKG-style, "Mooody" sees Sirmo conjuring up six different types of bassline and laying them down over a delightfully shufflesome drum arrangement. Twisting and turning with turbulence, it's design to keep your floor on their toes from start to finish. Flip for "Big Jimmy". A more linear affair (read: he's got about three bass sounds instead of six) it rolls and gurgles over a slightly techier beat... The results speak for themselves.

Review: Sheffield youngster Kris Jay - AKA producer Chris Matthewman - is doing his best to uphold the best traditions of Steel City bass on this debut EP for Nu Wave. Powerful subs and bone-rattling basslines form the backbone of his sound, which takes in a myriad of "bass music" forms. Opener "Faded" delivers a fusion of two-step garage, UK bass and the wooziness of deep house, before "Give It All" swings by on a trip back in time, presumably to a speed garage rave circa 1997. "Whoa" sounds like something Sheffield legend Winston Hazel could have made - ludicrously heavy sub, hustlin' 4/4 garage beats and pitched-down ragga vocals - while "Take It Or Leave It" pits a fragile, world-weary female vocal against a chunky, bass-driven garage groove.

Review: Deckstar and Steve Brooke's Nu Wave label has been on a roll as of late, releasing some of the best new artists around when it comes to funked-out house music. This time, label newbies Ryan & James are accompanied by Chris Pottinger on a full remix EP of their "Ain't Nobody" tune. Chris Gresswell provides a deep, subby bassline, while Cavna is in a party mood with his sample-fuelled, old-school house refix. High Society step up and deliver another bouncy house version, while Boy Raver and Pianoman team up to deliver a Chicago-inspired bomb made purely for a hot, sweaty summer dancefloor.
