Review: Grime is most definitely in a position of growth right now, as we see numerous artists grow and expand their brand, with Tigs being one of the names of the tip of the scenes tongues. This latest project sees him run riot over the drill-like bass ascensions and hypnotic melodic chimes of the instrumental behind 'Chessboxin', taking the sound somewhere a little more experimental. The track also features the rapidly rising vocal patterns of SBK, who supplies high energy verses that sit very atop a busy instrumental structure. This release also comes complete with the standalone instrumental, which most certainly holds its own in a 140 set.
Review: The Raw Tactics discography has always been an impressive one, and the catalogue has just been improved again with the release of this brand new new three track project from Fork & Knife. Here we have been treated to a sumptuous slice of techno intertwined with bass themes, as the title track combines glitched out arpeggios with rolling drum work and distorted 808 subs, resulting in a really groovy overall composition. On the flip side we are then treated to some more creative energy with 'Canyon'. This is a grimey stinger, incorporating beautiful organic woodwind motifs with scattered drum punches, lively bird sounds and explosive horn stabs, for a really well thought out arrangement. This is definitely an EP with a wide range of sounds, perfect for numerous DJ's to slide into the mix.
Review: For this delightful two tracker, the Raw Tactics bannermen bring forward Jimmy Le Mac, who provides us with some serious rhythmic heat. We begin with the title track 'Blue Tongue', which from the off you can tell is going to be a funky anthem. As we journey through the breakdown, hardcore chords, tight percussive riffs and catchy vocal slices join forces to great effect. On the flip side we have 'Baker St 'Mare', a more stripped back piece of production, focusing on intense sub stabs and subtle hi hat movement, providing yet more rhythmic bliss. This is definitely one for the fans of the new UK Funky movement!
Review: The grime scene is in a great state right now, with a tonne of new wave artists managing to break through to the central sphere of interest with extremely original sounding releases. This release see's Galvz and Tigs team up for a weighty original recording, featuring a very energetic vocal performance from LenZez who leads the way with some demonic vocal effects and tight 140 flows. The instrumental itself is extremely dark, featuring swampy LFO's and subtle percussive movement, creating a very vibey final product.
Review: The Raw Tactics discography has always been an impressive one, and the catalogue has just been improved again with the release of this brand new new three track project from Fork & Knife. A funky hybrid theme runs throughout the project as we kick off with 'Bring Your Crew', a percussive masterpiece, weaving with rhythmic prowess as colourful percussive blips and slaps run riot providing the lead melody. On the flip side we have the soca inspired drum compositions of 'Like This', bringing the full samba into play whilst poignant sub pressure lurks below. On remix duty, Common Underground steps up with his futuristic refurb of 'Bring Your Crew', bringing mellowed lofi synths to the front without dissipating any of the energy of the original.
