A full album is expected imminently and it starts here with two of the most sought after dubplates in recent times. UK/Russian duo Magnetude's take on Konflict's iconic 'Messiah' continues to melt faces at 50 paces while retaining all the gritty, dramatic magic of Kemal and Rob Data's original. Review: Poland-based Slovakian D&B producer Trilo has been intermittently releasing music since 2008, largely via collaborations and single-track contributions to compilations and split EPs. Here, Renegade Hardware has given him a chance to prove his growing credentials with a full solo EP. There's much to admire, from the hot-stepping feel of punchy opener "Enterprise" - all fizzing synths, dense but swinging beats and pulsating sub - to the deep chords and punishing rhythms of digital bonus cut "Baracks". Arguably best of all, though, is "Prozac", an atmospheric and faintly chilling jaunt through retro-futurist riffs, immersive chords, dBridge style electronics and titanium-clad beats.

Review: Renegade Hardware hit back hard with new signing Trilo, showing the rest of the scene how it's done. Dark, heavy, techy and filled with influences old and new, this is an intelligent release filled with nods to the past but with an undercurrent of pure terror. First track "Enterprise" shows off the Slovakian producer's knack for distorted bass and skewed beats and as we carry on into "Prozac", the EP's brutally restrained mid-way point, it's easy to see why RH picked this guy up: he's got a way with horror soundscapes most producers could only dream of. He finishes off with stunningly pieced together "Baracks", switching from musical interlude to heavy dancefloor-writhing rhythms in a palpitation. Breathtaking.

Review: Legendary D&B label Renegade Hardware has been a powerhouse of essential tunes from the darker side of the street for 19 years now. Pushing ever onwards with their future sounds, this release is a neat and nasty selection of the finest new talent around right now. Kicking off with a tasty slice of neuro badness from Slovakian artist Trilo and banging tracks from Klax and Subtension who takes to the studio with MC Nuklear, there's also a beast of a tune from rising also-Slovakian star Minor Rain. Clean, precise and just a bit deadly. You need this in your life.

Review: Subculture Records boss Matteo Cavo returns to Renegade Hardware with another quartet of intense, tech-tinged D&B smashers. The Italian doesn't do things by halves, so expect full-throttle rhythms, murky bass, intoxicating electro noises and distortion aplenty. On the title track, he channels the energy and attitude of Krust's "Warhead" into a fierce atmospheric stepper, while "Slinky" delivers a rolling exercise in the joys of dense percussion. MC Nuclear adds his slick raps to the near-anthemic "Crank It Up" - the EP's most hedonistic cut by some distance - while "iMaz" is a jumpy tribute to intergalactic jungle of times past. Tasty.

Review: It's not clear whether Auckland-born, London-based Cern got his name from the institution that houses the Large Hadron Collider, but it seems possible on the basis of his sharp, beefy productions, which hit with all the impact of a particle accelerator on the Nostromo EP. The title track could well soundtrack the corridors of the ship of the same name in the Alien movie, as tense subs and atmospheric synths pepper the rolling breaks; it's a similar story on "Organism", whose warbling bass cuts through the air like ice. "Formless" meanwhile is a more frantic affair, combining footwork style rhythms with sparse textures, while "When The Time Comes" finishes off with a more traditional D&B roller filled with emotive piano chords, albeit one that rattles along like its shaking itself to pieces. Highly recommended!

Review: Renegade Hardware never pull any punches, and this latest from D&B badman Optiv and fellow Cause 4 Concern member CZA are no exception to that rule. Kicking this up a notch from the get go, it's a high-energy release that's destined to make crowds scream. Big, heavy and with classic Optiv nastiness running through it like a stick of Blackpool's finest, the dancefloor sweat is almost tangible. Flip it over for a neuro-storm of epic proportions in "Back To The Future". Nice.

Review: Dutty Audio's Brazilian drum & bass badman BTK takes no prisoners when he goes in. "Megahertz" is a full-on dancefloor destroyer, best heard on an 100ft system as the end of the world approaches. For those on a non-apocalyptic tip, fragmented breaks and a deep bass groove give the title track seriously addictive headphone appeal too. After an insane build-up, the rapidfire roll of "Be Yourself" smashes straight into neuro funk filth with the type of bassline that gets crowds of thousands screwfacing in harmony. Review: Renowned for their harder take on the D+B genre, Renegade Hardware step up with their newest release which comes from long-term badman Audio and upcoming talent Inside Info, who impressed with his EP on Viper not so long ago. "Fall Back" brings in the lyrical talent of MC Stapleton and pairs the acerbic spoken vocals with razor sharp snares, pounding bass and spaced out SFX. An industrial undertone adds an aggressive edge. Next up, Audio joins forces with Inside Info for a truly menacing number with a Calyx & Teebee circa "Warrior" feel, pumping beats and grizzled synths. Gnarly!

Review: As we approach the next release from the legendary dark D&B label, it's pleasing to see Cern make a welcomed return to the airwaves. Teaming up with Teknik in "Traitor", this one packs a punch with grinding subs, squelchy bass, rough breaks and a good dose of Hardware's techstep badness. The accompanying "Schemer" sees Menace take Teknik's place for an enormous slab of tear out tech-ed up D&B, with sharp, crisp drums, menacing atmospherics and glowering bass. If you like your D&B dark, dirty and badder than bad, then this is for you. There's a reason Stapleton came up with the lyrics "Renegade Hardware, heavy like so".
