Review: Duoscience follows in the steps of London Elektricity and Roni Size, paying homage to D&B's heritage with his charming Wave Jazz EP on Stepping Forward. "Consequence" brings chiming piano keys and smoky Gil Scott Heron vocals into the 21st century, with pounding drums and rolling basslines. Then the sultry sounds of "Moments of Reflection" take over with lilting melodies, hissing breaks, woodblock beats and strumming guitar strings plus the occasional harp flourish. Title track "Wave Jazz" is a shimmying, hip-shaking number with oodles of soul, and "Maybe", the concluding track of the EP strips things back, with moody piano keys and crisp breaks. Lovely stuff.
