Review: Bumping big room techno fun from the Top Billin' family, as Sir Nenis and Belmont squeeze plenty of squelchy bass, crunchy leads and whimsical breaks into these two new blasters. Where "Jack Box" is hard-hitting right off the bat, "Steamroller" is a slow-burning beauty, with a static bassline linked closely to the kicks and an ever-rising excitement running through the tune.
Review: Out on future-bass and wonky electro label Top Billin, Parisian duo Moms and Amazinggaijin get heavy on a moombahton/slow dubstep tip with "Sabro". With updated reggaeton-patterned drums carrying a huge, metallic lead sound, this will easily find itself in amongst recent tunes from Munchi and Dillon Francis. US producer Jay Fay brings a little Baile funk flavour to his mix, while Ann Arbor's Subvader flips the script by dropping a cool, calm and very charming version that's an absolute must for fans of modern boogie.
Review: Wonky, mashed-up progressive sounds from Montreal's Dooze Jackers, with their latest EP on Top Billin. Hot on the heels of collaborations with Le Petit Belge, and releases on Ro10 Musik, Simma and Rogue Industries. Here they drop 3 ultra unique tracks that will rock it in electro, fidget, and prog sets. Squelching synth lines, funky beats, and twisted vocal samples run throughout 'Zoo', "Euh", and 'Kissing'. Our pick of the pack is the Kia Kaio cut of 'Zoo'. If you want something outside the box to throw in the mix, look no further.
Review: Out on a label (Top Billin) that's a haven for hell-raising yet sophisticated electro, Australian producer One Nil drops a suite of future-humping club workers on the Gutterstorm EP. With 100 per cent feisty tropical rhythms and sinister, electro textures running throughout, you definitely want to hear the awesome drum rolls on Milt Mortez's mix of the lead song, the top-end wobble of "Congo Static" (which gets a hyped kuduro mix from the Lol Boys), the minimal bhangra work-out of "Kadesh" or the chiptune Bmore of the ace "Washing Machine".
Review: Swedish bootymore merchant Yeah! Woho! is back, with three newies on Top Billin, plus some excellent remixes on the side. "Warfare" brings his electric Bmore skills to the fore - creating a banger that has the slinky, faux brass of "Samir's Theme", while Cobra Krames slows things down for a more Reggaeton vibe on his mix. "I Wanna Love You" is a slow chop 'n' paste of short samples and beats which Dillon Francis has a lot of fun with on his version - switching between bassline and dubstep beats. "Pushing" is the real winner though - a raw and hugely urgent tune with a massive Canblaster remix to go with it.
Review: A favourite DJ within the American electro scene, LA's Them Jeans get remixed by some big names on this revisit to his debut single, "Balloons". Stones Throw's James Pants does a wonderful reimagining - slowing things down to a syrupy pace and replaying the distinctive riff with some highly wonky glide-synths. Swedish rapper Adam Tensta spits rhymes over his version, while Bird Peterson smashes things up by adding dense layers of electro goodness over the top. Best of the bunch though is label head Top Billin', who gives an icy shimmer and slowed-down tropical bounce to the excellent original.
