Review

Following on from its fine label compilation, emerging label Frenzy delivers a collection of DJ tool techno designed for maximum dance floor impact. Rebecca Delle Piane's "Lose Weight" is a dense, tribal affair, powered by tough drums, while both Juri Heidemann's "Harsel" and Alexandre Laeddis' "Volcano" follow a similar trajectory, with a focus on a steely rhythm and a series of filtered drops. Hurdslenk's "Rest" is more layered, as waves of vocal samples are combined with a driving groove, while Beau Didier's "Bit 4.2" marks a significant shift, as vocal snatches are combined with insistent loops to create a killer DJ tool. VoidSeeker keeps the audience guessing to the finale - and "Rule Of Thumb" combines tough, looped drums and wailing vocal samples.
