6Blocc's movie homage series just keeps getting better; having previously celebrated the cultural impact of Mi Vida Loca and Boyz N The Hood, he now moves on to another cult classic Menace II Society with the same raw jungle energy and samplecraft. Tailoring samples to complementary textures and tones, the whole album carries the same weight, anger, danger and energy of the movie. Highlights include the intense hardcore grittiness of "Car Jack", the sense-blurring snare rattles and bounce of "I Could Kill", the Crooklyn-dodging switch from deep to square-pushing on "Proverbs 22:10" and the spacious Brown grunts over jazzy drums on "Watts Up". 15 tracks that work in the mix or altogether as an album narrative and celebrate a classic movie... 6Blocc is doing something no else has thought of right here.
