Having been responsible for some fine experimental sounds from the like sof Tuff Sherm, DTCPU, Goodiepal and C Powers since its inception in 2009, the Reckno label here presents a collaborative record between previous label contributors Kinlaw and Joane Skyler. Entitled, appropriately enough, Skyler & Kinlaw, the 14-track album is as diverse as Skyler's solo material, swinging between murky house rhythms and the pulse of grime while incorporating traces of ambient and radiophonic music. Far from being jarring, the regular switch in styles give the whole LP the feel of scanning through the AM dial late at night and hearing music transmitted from a strange and distant time.
