Manu Di Bongo - "Weya" ((V's Chekere Edit)) - (6:05) 105 BPM Hot
Osibiza - "Jumbo" (V's Tribal edit) - (6:00) 116 BPM
KIWANUKA - "White World" (V's Black Man edit) - (6:21) 110 BPM
Cumbia Moderna - "Chacalao" (V's Desert Pace edit) - (6:32) 110 BPM
Lija - "Bayi L'ense" (V's Kalimba edit) - (7:08) 105 BPM
Review: No prizes for guessing what's going on here, as Vehicle serve up five re-edits of classic African or at least African-inspired recordings from days gone by. First to get the treatment is Manu Dibango's 'Weya' from 1973, followed by Osibisa's 'Jumbo' from 1980, Michael Kiwanuka's 'Black Man In A White World' from 2016, Cumbia Moderna de Soledad's 'Shacalao' from 1975 and finally The Lijadu Sisters' 'Bayi L'ense' from 1977. If you're looking to freshen up your Afro-flavoured sets, this EP should do the job nicely.

Review: Valique's V's Edits reworks have long been some of the most popular re-edits on this platform, with DJs responding not only to their floor-friendly nature but also the wide range of sounds and styles he turns his hand to. So, what's on offer this time around? Well, for starters Yellow Blues is raising money for victims of the war in Ukraine, a country to which Valique has family ties. As usual, it's a mixed bag of goodness, with highlights including a squelchy, TB0-303 speckled take on a Johnny Cash classic, the chugging nu-disco/swamp blues fusion of 'Was It Worth It?', a fine revision of Rodrigues classic 'You Can't Get Away', a housed-up tweak of an old Doors gem ('Learn To Forget') and a toe-tapping, club-ready revision of Kenny Rogers' sing-along 'Just Dropped In (to See What Condition My Conidtion is In)'.

Review: Anyone who decides to dedicate a fair chunk of his debut edits release to scalpel cuts of tracks from Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane and Stevie Wonder must have gonads the size of watermelons. Sitting down could be an uncomfortable proposition, then, for the mysterious V, whose seven-track debut EP also includes chunky, floor-friendly re-tweaks of The Kinks and Sly & The Family Stone (as well as a couple of stonking disco bangers). While some would argue that much of the material here didn't need messing with, he's done an excellent job. The Dub of "Whole Lotta Love", for example, is pitched just right, offering much more bang and exactly the right amount of disco dubbiness.

Majid Bekkas - "Daymallah" (V's Blue Drop edit) - (7:16) 114 BPM
Review: Valique once more dons his popular V's Edits guise for another trip into Balearic rework territory. This 18th installment in the long-running series has a "neo-blues" theme, offering the former funk breaks man a chance to deliver suitably dancefloor-friendly interpretations of cuts by Muddy Waters, BB King, The Doors and Rodriguez (a tasty re-arrangement of the 'Sugar Man's "Can't Get Away"). Interestingly, he also turns Dire Straits' radio-friendly, solo-heavy "Sultans of Swing" into a loose, tech-influenced house jam. Elsewhere, look out for a house-goes-breaks-goes-Balearic take on "Horse With No Name" (here titled "Has The Name"), and the bluesy powder house flex of "Daymallah".

Rodriguez - "Won't You Hurry" (V's Blue Coin edit) - (6:03) 101 BPM
Review: Neo Blues 3 announces its arrival via our most trusted Vehicle label that's been a port of call for disco edits for the world over. Turning in another four-tracks here it's spearheaded by the uber-warm kick, woofing bass and melodic percussion sequences of "Sea-Line". Harking back to the days when artists like Eddie C and Tornado Wallace were dominating the slo-mo, chugging disco sound, "Condition" adds yet another beefy boost to a Ken Roger's classic, while funkier soul and blues jams from Kings of Survival make the cut alongside that all time cinematic classic by Rodriguez's ("Sugarman").

Review: When operating under the V's Edits alias, re-edit maestro Valique can always be relied upon to bring the goods. It's little surprise, then, to find out that his latest collection of fresh cut-jobs - an epic affair featuring no less than 24 tracks - is packed to the rafters with high-grade fare. We don't have enough space to list all of the highlights, but we'd suggest checking out his rolling revision of Lee Dorsey's "Night People", the low-slung disco-funk heaviness of the Brass Construction rework ("Gotta Do It"), the intergalactic disco deepness of the Marvin Gaye revision ("Funky Space"), the lightly tooled-up, slowly unfurling take on Tom Browne's "Funkin For Jamaica" and the sweeping, string-laden disco brilliance of "Miracle (V's Edit)".

Review: Three cheers for Valique's Vehicle label, which this month celebrates 13 years releasing hot-to-trot re-edits, reworks and floor-friendly fusions. To mark the occasion, the producer sometimes known as "V" has put together this expansive, 24-track collection of killer cuts old and new. It's a varied but universally club ready selection, with highlights including - but no way limited to - the silky deep house/disco fusion of KC&SUB's "Black Waters Hold (V's As It Used To Be Edit)", the soaring, shirts-off disco-house brilliance of V's take on Milly Jackson's "Baby", the dubbed-out Marvin Gaye revision that is Rocknrolla Soundsystem's "Troubleman" and a delightful slab of rubbery nu-disco brilliance from Feel Good Alliance (the mash-up style aceness of "Show Me Love", which joins the dots between Escort and Robin S in startling fashion).

Billy Tall - "Sooner Or Later" (V's edit) - (8:26) 112 BPM
Review: Valique's decision to shift his emphasis from funk breaks to disco edits a few years back now seems a wise one. His popular V's Edits series is now on its 17th volume, and as usual there's plenty of tried-and-tested dancefloor fodder on offer. While the EP's most outstanding track is a winding, decidedly Balearic, downtempo remix of Bryan Ferry's "Slave To Love", the rest of the EP is a funky and forthright as you'd expect. Highlights include a bouncy rework of Michael Jackson ("Heart B"), and an oh-so-smooth cut-up of Billy Paul (the sumptuous strings and eyes-closed guitar solos of "Sooner or Later"), but to be honest it's all pretty darn tasty.

Review: Valique must have the world's largest record collection, as he is now on his fourth anniversary re-edit compilation and still shows no signs of stopping. This time round we get a whopping 28 reworks to choose from. It's packed full of copyright dodging megahit reworks including "Booty Itching" which features a super-teased KC & The Sunshine Band sample, the trippy acidic rework of Owner Of A Lonely Heart by Yes and dreamy disco laser-fest "When Did I Stop Loving You". Party gold.

Review: Scalpel-wielding rework maestro V (the artist formerly known as funk-breaks sort Valique) has been more prolific than usual this year, with the numerous pandemic lockdowns and rules allowing him more time at home working on his popular cut-jobs. As a result, his latest annual 'best of' collection is packed to the rafters with tasty treats. There's plenty of variety too, with the long-serving editor leaping between guitar-heavy workouts ('B-Ware', Deep Purple tweak 'Hush'), weighty '80s synth-pop (Billy Idol re-rub 'White Wed'), beefed-up krautrock (the cowbell-laden heaviness of 'Vitamin D', a tweak of one of Can's most popular tunes), glassy-eyed disco (the Clavinet-heavy 'Little Love') and sleazy, pitched-down glam-rock ('Jewelry').

Review: The mysterious V has got some balls. You see, it's common practice in re-edit circles to steer clear of certain big tunes and artists. V clearly didn't get the memo, because this second volume of party-hearty, floor-filling reworks contains sneaky dubs of tracks by Steve Miller (a smile-inducing version of "Fly Like An Eagle"), the Sex Pistols (a filter-heavy tweak of "Anarchy In The UK"), The Lovin' Spoonful ("Summer In The City") and The Beach Boys ("Good Vibrations", which gets a weirdly breaksy Balearic rework). Better, though, are the versions of the more disco and funk-inclined material. His Betty Wright rework ("Slip & Do It") is particularly magical.

Review: What more can we possibly say about nu-disco producer Valique and his two-year bootleg/edit/mash-up blitzkreig that we haven't already said? Listening back over these 31 offerings it becomes apparent that this is simply the soundtrack to one seriously mighty party. There are simply just so many dancing-on-tables moments here (we'll let him away with some of the shockers) including the grooved up DM cover "Personal Jesus" by Johnny Cash, the surreal, intoxicating deep disco take on Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" and the dreamy paradise melodies of "Still You". Here's to the next couple of years!

Review: Is it an original or isn't it nu-disco producer Valique eschews the ambiguity for this, his latest instalment of re-edits. He really is in a pop mood this time, tackling the likes of Duran Duran's Nile Rodgers-produced homage to William Burroughs, "Wild Boys" which gets extended and given an extra hi-NRG bassline to boot. Elsewhere ELO's "Last Train To London" gets made over into an infectious, if unrecognisable, electro-house belter and Daft Punk's "Lose Yourself To Dance" gets stretched out into nearly eight minutes of funk joy.

Review: Valique returns with another instalment of his ever-popular V's Edits series. As usual, it's jam-packed with party-friendly gear that shows enough reverence to the source material to appease the heads. There are a couple of delightfully warm and dewy-eyed soul moments (see "It's (Never) Too Late" and the Philly soul gorgeousness of singalong fave "It Takes A Minute"), some head-nodding, "Hustle"-era disco-boogie ("Belly Boogie", which features a delightfully dubbed-out percussive breakdown in the middle), a dash of hard-edged, Italo-influenced, acid-tinged electrofunk ("One Step"), a riotous Johnny Cash rework ("Believer"), and some hippy-ish '60s funk-rock ("Hush"). Plenty to get the juices flowing, in other words.

Review: Russian disco roustabout Valique lays down yet another collection of fun-time versions. With full focus locked on the heart of the party, there's no beard grazing crate stroking here, just straight up party exciters. Highlights include the clever loopy build on the climax of "The Night" (A cheeky twist on George Benson's "Give Me The Night"), the smouldering, come-to-bed winks of "Sexy Eyes" and the audacious space-race primed twist on Genesis classic "I Can't Dance". Wow factor set to stun.

Review: It seems that for his 19th installment of edits, label boss Valique has thrown caution to the wind, boldly going where no re-editor has dared venture before. The six scalpel jobs on this collection include many tracks considered either sacred or just too wrong to ever tackle, but it bothers him not a jot. Standouts include Mick Hucknall's unapologetic expression of sexual arousal, Something Got Me Started, being turned into a the Balearic house bouncer "I'd Give It All For You", the proggy electro-house Pink Floyd rework "Brick Wall" and the groovy Prince edit "The Future".

Review: On his previous two releases, this shady re-edit guy, only known as 'V', caused many a cough and splutter within production circles over his decision to re-work largely well-known commercial hits. Maybe he's taken this on board, as here his selection is a lot less recognizable. "Miracles" is certainly identifiable as "I Believe In Miracles", but he's used the lesser know original by Mark Cappani as source material. Elsewhere, Betty Everett's "Hey Lucinda" gets almost doubled in length and Natalie Cole debut "Everlasting Love" gets stripped back. Bigger names do surface later though, including Nina Simone's "I'm Going Back Home" and even T.Rex's "Children Of The Revolution".

Review: Of late the Vehicle label has almost totally focused on output from Russian producer Valique. Here though, the spotlight switches to P Sol who seizes the disco baton with both hands. "Groove On" kicks things with a filtered funky riff and hands-in-the-air soul samples, "Love How You Feel" is deep, raw body music, "Love Me Right" is a tight electronic grind, and "Reboter" wraps things up the boogie with some clap-a-long silliness.

Review: Last time round, nu-disco producer Valique went all out pop for his choice of re-edit material. Here he's thankfully chosen to explore more obscure material for these six tracks. '70s disco seems to be the main source of inspiration, highlights of which include the futuristic auto-funk of "Machine" (by the Jackson 5), the tightly clipped percussive riffs of "Bear's Holiday" and the sleazy Euro disco of "Still You".

For those looking for surprising rubs, there's plenty to enjoy, from the subtle (and surprisingly tasteful) rework of Carl Douglas's "Kung Foo Fighting" and the dubbed-out psychedelic rock-goes-deep house flex of "Man Who Taight The World", to the epic singalong business that is "Need To Know" and sensual, long-slung soul business of the string-laden "Light My Fire". Review: Former funk breaks specialist Valique is now arguably better known for his popular V's Edits series, which sees him applying his production magic to a range of well-loved and little-known tracks. This tenth volume in the series delivers more tried-and-tested dancefloor goodness, from the low-slung deep house wooziness of the two contrasting takes of "Dreaming" (the Dub Edit is our pick), to the housed-up Temptations re-make "Law of the Band" and hustlin' disco-funk vibes of "Joint (V's Edit)". Arguably best of all, though, is the vocal edit of "Starred", a bumpin', hustlin', stretched out chunk of celebratory disco-funk that's all but guaranteed to get the party started.

Review: Following the success of the first three volumes of his AOR-tinged V's Edits series, Russian producer Valique (best known under his usual pseudonym for disco-flecked funk breaks) unleashes another EP of scalpel jobs. This time, the sources are a little more obscure (the silly artist names offer clues), but the party-starting remit remains. So, we get some chunky low-slung, Fleetwood Mac-ish rock ("Because"), a dash of hustling disco-funk ("Up"), a sprinkling of synth-bass laden funk-rock ("Soul Francisco"), a thickset house version of a soul classic ("Good Or Bad") and a big chunk of '90s US garage silliness ("Love You Too") - all tweaked and teased with an eye on dancefloor devastation.

Look harder, and you'll note the distinctive scalpel alias of label boss Valique (simply "V") throughout. Review: Given the success of The Very Polish Cut-Outs re-edit series in breathing new life into forgotten musical gems from Poland's past, it's heartening to see Vehicle aiming to do the same to vintage Yugoslav disco via the Ex-Yu series. This second installment comes from B.G Baarregaard (under the new Disco El Pogia moniker) and Serbian record collector Funky Junkie, who join forces to rework to previously unknown Balkan nuggets. Opener "Wandering" is sweet and groovy, with indigenous vocals riding triumphant horns and razor-sharp strings. While there are a few contemporary production tricks - think filters and a chunkier groove - it's a pleasingly respectful rework. "Weekend Phobia" is, if anything, even better, stretching out and rearranging a hearty chunk of disco-funk-meets-AOR brilliance.

Review: Having spent much of the last couple of years churning out cheeky reworks under the V's Edits tag, former funk breaks maestro turned disco dancer Valique indulges in a Threesome. He begins by joining forces with vocalist Michael Wheatley for a 2015 revision of old cut "Kick Out Party" - a rubbery, low-slung concoction that sits somewhere between Prince, disco-funk and hands-in-the-air piano house. There's a little more jazzy fluidity to the sun-kissed guitars, woozy synths and bouncy bass of "At This Time" - a cheerier track you'll struggle to find - while "I've Got You (Though I've Been Selfish" offers Valique an opportunity to lay down a booming, chopped-up, hands-in-the-air smasher that draws inspiration from both classic speed garage and early '90s piano house.

Review: One day, Valique will run out of material for his popular V's Edits series. For his 20th volume of sneaky re-rubs, remixes and re-edits, he adds his unique touch to another batch of unlikely classics and well-loved gems. He begins by sticking a rocket under Johnny Cash's turn-of-the-millennium cover of U2's "One", before delivering a woozy, feel-good house interpretation of a Marvin Gaye gem. Next, Yes's "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" is transformed into wobbly tech-house/deep-house/nu-disco shuffler, before he storms into guaranteed party-starting territory with a synth-heavy, nu-disco/house remix of The Clash's "Rock The Casbah". A more fluid, boogie-tinged version of the previously re-edited Marvin Gaye cut completes another big package.

Here he nudges in front by a nose thanks to another six-track selection of dancefloor-ready reworks. As usual, he adds his magic touch to a range of well loved and lesser-known cuts, kicking off with an undulating, party-hearty extension of David Bowie's "Fame". Stylistically, he keeps things eclectic, variously touching on hazy disco-funk ("Turn That Boogie Loose"), camp disco (the string-drenched, arms-aloft "Going Up"), white boy reggae-pop (a cheery, stretched out rendition of 10CC's "Dreadlock Holiday"), and heavily percussive disco-rock (the subtly house-friendly, filter-rich "You Gave Me Love").

Review: Given the Peaktime Reworks title, you've probably already worked out that the three tracks here all head straight for the proverbial dancefloor jugular. The emphasis here is on fun, with lead cut "Show Me Love" expertly combining elements of classic material from Escort and Robin S with sizeable new percussion. This theme continues on "Pushing On", which layers Alice Russell's classic vocal from the Quantic Soul Orchestra cut of the same name over one of the largest disco records of all time. Review: Russian disco edit fiend Valique serves up another hot Boogie Box and we're up to number three already! Highlight's on here not limited to Princess' smooth ergonomics displayed on the re-splice of the Prince classic "Sexy Dancer", Feel The Vibe's great cover of "Get Down Tonight" looped for your pleasure by Kc/Sub and they save the best for last with Mr Faded/Blackhead's (aka McFadden & Whitehead's) 1979 classic "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now". They are all 're-re-edited' by the way: by none other than Valique himself. Trust the DJ!

Peak Time Reworks 2
Working - (4:32) 115 BPM
Finally - (4:31) 125 BPM Hot
Now That We Found - (4:56) 120 BPM
Review: While much of Frank Cueto and Russell Belicek's work as Feel Good Alliance is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, there's something extra full-throttle about their occasional Peaktime Reworks. This second volume in the series is every bit as essential as its' predecessor, with the veteran production duo opening the EP with a killer rework of a psychedelic rock era funk gem ("Working"). They move further towards disco dancefloors on "Finally", which smartly combines clipped guitars, sweeping strings and flares-sporting grooves, with the vocal from Ce Ce Peniston's house classic of the same name. Proceedings are drawn to a close with the similarly inclined "Now That We Found", which turns a well-known Third World classic into a tropical disco sing-along.
