Review: After stepping out on his own with the searing Serra EP, Livity Sound alumni Asusu once more fires up his Impasse label to deliver another decisive split between floor-focused energy and considered abstraction. "Trephine" is a marked departure from previous material by the Bristol-based artist, thundering into earshot as it does on a tight and punchy electro back bone guaranteed to wither spaces big and small to the core through a proper system. Meanwhile "Dualism" sees Asusu expanding on previous hints of ambience with a many-layered, dynamic diversion into expressive electronica full of scratchy samples and fractured rhythms.
