Review: A reissue here of the 1992 debut album from Trans-4M, Belgium's answer to The Orb. Opener 'Arrival' starts out in full ambient territory before a gentle, throbbing electronic rhythm slowly emerges out of the densely layered synth washes, atmospherics and sampled space dialogue. 'Dencity' is a dubbed-out 6am gem, 'Depth Probe' and 'Surfacing' have a blissed-out, 'white light' kinda feel and 'Atharvaveda', 'Amma' and 'Mount Void' play with off-kilter percussion and Indian folk elements (and in the case of 'Amma', a hint of dub), before ambient piano piece 'Singularity' plays us out. Undoubtedly of its time, 'Sublunar Oracles has nevertheless aged surprisingly well!
Review: Two years after reissuing the Sublunar Oracles album, an ambient house and ambient techno masterpiece from 1992, Safe Trip has once again delved into the archives of Trans4m (AKA Belgian brothers Stefan and Dimtri van Elsen). This time, they've chosen to showcase hard-to-find reworks of album tracks released around the same time, throwing in an unreleased cut - the utterly gorgeous, sunrise-ready ambient swell of 'Butterflies' - for good measure. Highlights of a superb EP include the organ-sporting, US garage-influenced Urban Tribe mix of 'Dencity' - loved-up deep house at its finest - the immersive ambient techno stomp that is the 'Moon Mix' of 'Amma', and the rubbery ambient house delight that is 'Arrival (Remix)'.
