Answering Machine
Answering Machine - (6:48) 124 BPM Hot
Freak - (7:25) 130 BPM
Played by: Alkalino
Review: Wade & Odyssey's London based label is on its twelfth release and serves up another hot one courtesy of Berlin based Belgian Kill Frenzy. "Answering Machine" is bouncy, warbling, bass driven minimal that's perfect for those afterhour sets. Reminiscent of old Marc Houle. "Freak" on the other hand is pounding peak time industrial techno, dark and steely in a similar style to Rotterdam's Mord imprint. Those nefarious pitch shifted vocals and doom laden synths over the top certainly adding to its overbearing drama! Following up previous releases on Dirtybird and Pets Recordings, this is promising stuff.

Errrybody Like It EP
Kill Frenzy - "Errrybody" - (7:16) 125 BPM
Kill Frenzy & Sacha Robotti - "I Like It" - (6:38) 128 BPM
Kill Frenzy - "Errrybody" (Shadow Child & Tom Flynn remix) - (5:38) 125 BPM Hot
Kill Frenzy & Sacha Robotti - "I Like It" (B-Ju remix) - (4:30) 129 BPM
Review: When Belgian producer Kill Frenzy first surfaced back in the late '90s, he made a name for himself as a purveyor or robust, slightly jarring electro-house. He's clearly mellowed with age, because this EP for Food Music is decidedly deep. "Errybody" is warm and woozy, all tactile beats, intoxicating chords and drawn-out builds, while the Shadow Child and Tom Flynn Remix turns it into a wonky, acid-flecked stepper. "I Like It", his collaboration with Sacha Robotti, is deeper and dreamier, with just enough garage influence to excite the Hypercolour heads. It's good, as is B-Ju's sparse, percussive, low end-heavy deep garage re-fix.

Review: Labelworx's dedication to curating the most far-reaching, extensive compilations across all the best genres continues, and here they return to the breaks scene for their fifteenth representation session, with the vibe remaining as electrifying and exciting as it did on Volume One. Ranging from Tribe Steppaz and Mr Sir's amen-ravished rave homage "Circa Rave 94" to the tightly balanced euphoric synth spikes and muscular riddims on K G B's "Trance Lucid" via Motna's deep and driving electro-influenced "Time", every shade and flavour of dance music's most melting pot-primed genre is explored and celebrated with style. Full of fresh talent and not a dull moment; this ticks every compilation box possible.

Review: Dirtybird showcase their deeper side on a new 14-track complation featuring some of the label's best loved artists (Claude VonStroke, Julio Bashmore, Sascho Robotti, Pezzner) alongside a host of more up-and-coming names. There's quite a variety of sounds on offer here, with cuts ranging from the dreamy, bassy minimalism of opener "Aundy" to the pop leanings of Scavazza's "Shake Your Hearts". The best bits, though, come largely from the deepest end of the spectrum: Tom Flynn's Amp Fiddler collab "The Future" is a late-night, jazzy delight while Dernis and Robot Love bring us a couple of proper deep house bullets.

Review: It's that time again; west coast institution Dirtybird announce this year's Campout Compilation featuring an all-star cast who serve up some seriously bass-heavy tech house party vibes for the real freaks! Opening proceedings in great style is label mainstay Justin Martin with Ardalan on "Function" featuring the naughty vocals by PartyPatty on this boompty, sleazy and downright funky groove. Petz head honchos in Berlin Catz N Dogz serve up the the rolling and drugged out "Fixation", Bristol electro house hero Will Clarke gives us the typically buzzy and bouncy "Can You Funk" and for Spanish progressive house hero German Brigante is business as always on his darkly epic journey "Noose". Their latest acquisition, the young gun Justin jay presents the stripped down and bouncy teen spirit of "Hit It (original mix)" too. If that was not enough, Seattle legend Pezzner compiles all the tracks in a continuous mix for your listening pleasure.

Review: This third volume of the Twin Turbo compilation is a timely reminder of Turbo's consistency when it comes to delivering varied dance music. The TRACE7000 remix of Jakwob's "Feel So Good" is a pulsating, acidic track, while Kill Frenzy ups the intensity levels with the swampy electronics and ghetto jack of "Follow Me". In contrast, ANNA's "Artha" is a sleek affair, its linear rhythm supporting tranced out rhythms, while on "Build Up Your House", Hoshina Anniversary delivers a modern take on Chicago jack, with repetitive vocals underpinned by a grainy rhythm. Label owner Tiga also makes an appearance, with Dense & Pika delivering a techy take on his version of Public Enemy's "Louder Than A Bomb".

Review: Everybody knows that if you want an overload of hoover-style bass shenanigans, than Herve's Cheap Thrills label is pretty much a one-stop-shop. What's lesser know, however, is the other side of the label, the disco side of things. This compilation collects ten of the finest disco-orientated party tunes that emerged on the label. Highlights include the chopped up Frank Farian-style bonanza "I Think I Like It" by Fake Blood, the absurd Billy Ocean-led knees up "54321 (Voodoo Chili Edit)" by Kill Frenzy and the sleek Mighty Mouse Euro-disco rework of "Robot Rock" by The Glamour.

Review: Bristol-based rising stars Jaymo and Andy George are regular collaborators. Here, they join forces again to launch Moda Music offshoot Moda Black with a compilation of previously unreleased material. For those interested in the new wave of British and European house, it should be an essential purchase. Some of the duo's own Bristol pals make an appearance, with strong contributions from Lukas (the darting "Best In Show") and Eats Everything & Idiotproof (an excellent, peaktime-friendly remix of The 2 Bears). Elsewhere, highlights include a grandiose new cut from the duo themselves, an organ-heavy garage-meets-cocaine house banger from Disclosure, and a cacophonous rinse-out from Hot Since 82.
