Review: The latest release on Thrasher's label is a debut outing from Strange Arrival. "Calabi-Yau Manifold" is a stepping, broken beat affair that features frazzled bass and eerie, haunting textures, while on "Chasmfiend" this emerging producer opts for a straighter approach, as pounding drums unravel over growling, feedback-led bass tones. "Apprehension" sees Strange Arrival integrate the human voice into his murky arrangements, with a tortured howl added to the slamming hard dance backing track. A similarly intense style prevails on "The Lighthouse Keeper", where Strange Arrival drops a stop-start rhythm shot through with relentless gabba kicks, splintered percussive elements and spooky bell chimes.
