Review: What a year it has already been for the DUPLOC collective. A crew that has done more than almost any to uphold and push the future of dubstep forward, both as a label and as a general entity. This latest drop sees them pull together this enormity of their 'BLXCK TXPES' releases for one almighty collection, bringing together the likes of Oxossi, Ternion Sound, Wraz, ENiGMA Dubz, Hypho and many other titan-weight producers for possibly the most loaded dubstep drop in recent years. Although previously released, it's fair to name a few highlights, including the super jittery subs of Roklem & Sebalo's 'Shake The System', the bulbous bass bounces of Lost's 'Level Up' and of course, the authentic sounds of Hamdi with his generational smasher 'Skanka'.

Review: It's an exciting time for the Locus sound crew, who have once again delivered a fabulous box of goodies with this weighty new collection from 11th Hour, focussing on three heavyweight dubstep rollers, stuffed to the brim with futuristic subby goodness. We open up with 'Foolish', over which we hear a combination of gritty vocal displays and thumping marching subs, before the heavily bitcrushed sound design of 'Takeover' then takes us into a slightly more abstract chamber. From here, we then move into a killer finale in 'Levitation', a murky fusion of silky synthesiser slides and gritty bass notation, all tied together with some serious eerie atmospheric work, rounding off an awesome project in style.

Review: In all honesty, we are running out of words to describe the pure domination we are seeing from the Duploc camp, especially with their output thriving heavily in 2023's unique dubstep ecosystem. For this latest offering, they celebrate their 100th official drop with a regal arrangement of guests, including the likes of Lost, Wraz, Rugby, Ternion Sound, ENiGMA Dubz and more, all of whom have pulled out their weightiest weapons in combined celebration. If you wanted a full on display of the majesty currently at work within dubstep's deep catacombs, then look no further than this epic selection, with our favourites including the ground mulching bass melodies of Hebbe's 'The Insider', next to Mystic State's warming rework of 'Voice' from Opus, and of course Hamdi's rave-ready synth action explored within 'Immortal'. There aren't many collectives doing more than the Duploc team right now.

Review: It's safe to say that across the now, global sphere of dubstep fandom, there aren't many imprints that can boast as much weight as Duploc, who have hear delivered yet another awesome compilation, as '140% DUBSTEP' sees them welcome a number of their heaviest hitter onside for a truly vibrant display. Featuring the likes of Ternion Sound, Roklem & Sebalo, 11th Hour, Substrada and Gnasha to name a few, they have pulled out all the stops to deliver a truly raucous collection. This project primarily explore the dingier side of the dubstep sphere, with the VIP mix of SBK's 'One Man' providing an eerie, string driven thump, alongside Merricat Black's creepy squelcher in 'Whistler's Paradise' and the drum-heavy rhythms of Dusty's 'Grug'. Our highlights would have to include both the system shaking synth slaps of Elidan's 'Nar' original, alongside the innovative sampling approach of Handsome Tigers' 'Baile Dub'. This is a collection any dubstep fanatic is going to want to own.

Review: Oh Lord, yes! It's such a shame that the world at large mostly associates the term 'dubstep' with shockingly bad EDM and gobby Yanks with ludicrous haircuts, because as you and I both know, the genre at its best takes dub, two-step and a little bleep-style subsonic trickery, and somehow crafts them into a THC-powered vessel that'll carry you all the way from the very depths of the ocean floor to the furthest reaches out of outer space. Thankfully, Locus Sound are here to remind the world of that with a 12-track, 12-artist comp that's a red-eyed headnodder's delight from start to finish. Superb stuff.

Review: The Duploc crew have always had a real ability to pull together an impressive compilation project. This latest selection sees a bag of VIP mixes being brought into the fold, with the likes of SBK, Ternion Sound, JSM, Oddkut, ENiGMA Dubz and more all unleashing some heavyweight reworks of previously released heaters. In typical Duploc style, the whole project is absolutely teething with hard hitting basslines, with 11th Hour's 'Immortals' overhaul being an immediate jump out, with this creeping melodic drifts and stripped back drum work to match. We are also a big fan of Woven Thorns' 'Hidden Blade' rework, which again slaps you in the face with some hellish melodic manoeuvres, alongside the full VIP mix of 'Harpy' from Ourman, who turns an already impressive original into something even more magnificent with some unique melodic design and stuttering percussion to match. Excellent work once again!

Review: You can always rely on the Duploc team to deliver on the big stage, with this latest collection seeing them continue their 'BLXCK TXPES' series into its second edition. Featuring 8 hardy originals, the roster is truly stacked with talent, with the likes of ENiGMA Dubz, 11th Hour, Pushloop, Hypho and more veterans all making themselves known, next to a couple of very tidy original creations from Chef Boyarbeatz and DubDiggers / 207. Our two highlights come from right at the top of the project, with Hamdi's 'Skanka' being one of the most sought after 140 originals of 2022 and Lost's 'Level Up', being an irresistible swampy roller. The whole collection however just oozes quality and is another emphatic victory for one of the most consistent 140 outlets out there.

Review: 2021 has been a fantastic year for the Locus Sound catalogue, continuously adding spicy new features and artists to the table over the course of the year. Next up from them, the third edition of their 'Various Locus Sound Compilation,' series, this time welcoming 13 new creations to ruffle any system. The tracklisting once again showcases some of the most exciting Locus regulars, including the likes of Substrada, Mistah, OSCO, E S P, Nomia Grawinkel and more. The whole project oozes dubstep-inspired originality, with the Locus sound itself being such a dungeon-driven pot of colour. There are some immediate standouts we of course have to mention, with Chad Dubz arriving on remix duty for LOTU's 'Childsplay' being one of them. Alongside this, the hypnotic chimes and haunted atmospheric design of 'Passerby Unknown' from Proove has to be mentioned, with the Spanish inspired guitar melodies and grizzly reeses of Saraphim & Senncoria's 'Midnight' being another corker we had to mention. Excellent work!

Review: Once again the Wheel & Deal team are out in force as N-Type's flagship project continues to showcase and inspire with serious consistency. This time around, 11th Hour joins the frontline for a marvelous steppers display, kicking off with the swampy drum clicks and moody bass warbles of 'Remnants', a sumptuous title track that packs a serious aquatic punch. Next, the jittering percussive pings and droning bassline of 'Tyrant' gives us another eerie adventure into sublow flavour, with the tripletted rhythms and system-wobbling subs of 'Barrage' continuing the high intensity feel. Finally, the more delicate arrangement of 'Transmission' gives us a tip-toe outro, adding a final touch of class to an already epic selection.

Review: Next up, we see the return of the Basskruit crew as they welcome the ever-ready production mastery of 11th Hour inside for a five track display of dubstep-dominance. We begin with the gnarly bass squishes and almost retro distortion of 'Forensics', before the super wonky bitcrushed bass pulses of 'Hijacked' give us a swampy masterclass. The aquatic bass sizzles and demonic horn sweeps of 'Headrush' then follow before the flickering synth pops and scattered drums of 'Chimera' give way to 'Orbital' a perfect outro, doused in chunky bass energy from start to finish. The Basskruit team have most certainly done it again!

Review: The Duploc imprint has without a doubt been one of dubstep's shining lights over the course of the last few years, both as a label imprint and as a general space to explore steppers music worldwide. This first edition of their new '140 Allstars' compilation series is a perfect example of their explosive range when it comes to releasing music. First up, JSM arrives with his eerie creation by the name of '1893', weaving together bitcrushed synths and stuttered drum runs in style. This is then followed by the quirky melodic twists of 11th Hour with 'Immortals', alongside the minimal and unusual synth shivers of 'Swerve' from Crowley. From here we continue forward into the trappy rhythms and pounding subs of Causa's 'Triple Choc', before the oldschool, DMZ-sounding LFOs of Ome's 'Better Stay Home' and the haunted, metallic slaps of Ninety's 'Snake's Kiss' VIP mix. Exceptional work as per from a top quality imprint.

Review: Next up from the ever-ready After Dark Music imprint, we see them welcome the super-versatile sounds of 11th Hour, who unveils four tracks of original steppers flavour to enjoy with this spicy new EP. We begin with distant, eastern melodies and sandy soundscapes of 'Ashkhar', which sets the tone beautifully. Next, we get swampy flavours by the dozen as 'Awaken' moves us forward with some stunning synth design, before 'Revolution' delivers a pulsating steppers display of intricate percussive power and carefully processed reverbs. Finally, we move into the incredible stuttered bass rolls and sub slaps of 'Arcane', which puts the finishing touches on an exceptional project from all involved!

Review: Following on from a top quality run of drops, we were very excited to see what the Basskruit team had to offer this time as they unveil this spicy four track compilation entitled 'Explosie Vol. 1'. We kick off our exploration with Crowley, who delivers an industrial thumper named 'Grump', stuffed with colourful percussive drags and unpredictable melodic scoops, followed by Beatsforbeaches returning with another unorthodox scorcher in 'Whydah'. Next, we move into the smooth chord progressions and super-scattered rhythms of Zygos who excels on 'Sideways', before the creeping percussive bubbles and hard hitting sub-lines of 'Echolocation' give us a fiery outro.

Review: It appears that FatKidOnFire show no intent of slowing down their storming start to the decade as they unveil yet another top quality four tracker, this time inviting the sounds of 11th Hour to display the magic. We begin with a dive into the breathy lead melodies and hypnotic sub textures of 'Gorilla Glue', before 'Stryker' combines a more grizzly sounding bass instrument with big room snare smacks and subtle horn injections. Next up, 'Murda' arrives with something a little different, packing the mix with suspenseful delays and reverberations above clinical sub bass designs, before finishing everything off on the fabulous percussion lines and system ready low end of 'Plasmator'. A top quality selection to say the least.

Review: Uprise Audio are a label we can always rely on to bring us some serious dubstep flavour, a task in which they have held their own for the entire year. This latest two track pairing from 11th Hour is a perfect example of the sound the label are proud to represent, with 'Hyperspace' kicking us off with some stunning sub work and drum design as the A-side. On the flip to this we are given 'Bravo Zulu', a more marching style of composition, built to cause somewhat of a ruckus in the dance with it's hard hitting sub line and sharp snare delays. Lovely stuff!
