Review: Miami's finest Danny Daze is up next for David Vunk's Moustache Records out of Rotterdam - following up a grinding EP by himself and David Spaans as Im Kellar. On a homage to his roots, The El Cubano EP features a collection of tracks that hark back to his youth in Vice City. From the gritty warehouse techno banger "Trumpet" featuring Jonny Superglu, to the tunneling 808 driven banger "Late Night Snack" - a song about a boy on its way to the nightstore who gets lost his way on LSD, to the deeply hypnotic electro bass journey of the title track complete with robotic vocoder for added effect.

Review: Having reached its seventeenth volume, the Total series is making its transition from adolescence into adulthood, but it has lost none of its youthful charms. Like previous editions, it features highlights from the German label's recent releases - including anthems from Laurent Garnier and The Orb - alongside some new gems. The latter category sees Thomas/Mayer deliver the tripped out, acid playfulness of "25", while Kompakt regular Superpitcher chimes in with the angelic vocals and skipping groove of "In My Head". Speaking of otherworldly moments, Jurgen Paape's "Always Disko" is a spaced out disco track from another dimension. Trends and fads come and go, but Kompakt will forever remain a constant, defined by its Total series.

Review: Almost 18 years on from its debut release, Kompakt Extra is just months away from notching up a century of releases. For EP number 98, Kompakt's club-focused offshoot has snapped up a pair of heads-down, late night delights. Danny Daze and Shokh join forces, laying down a pulsating chunk of trance-like dancefloor hypnotism whose power derives not from thunderous percussion (though the drum hits are solid enough), but rather restless arpeggio lines, spacey electronics and some mind-altering melodies. Then it is Patrice Baumel taking an altogether different approach, slamming down a formidably heavy chunk of bass-heavy techno wonkiness smothered in the sticky humidity of an unlikely jungle rave.

Review: Miami's Danny Daze has successfully sustained his career since 2011's breakthrough hit "Your Everything", the pop inflected house anthem which propelled him to stardom overnight. Fast forward to 2016, Speicher 91 for esteemed German imprint Kompakt sees his style develop and mature furthermore particularly on "Swim" a dark journey track whose simplicity and restraint excels marvellously. While on "Machine" things get a bit more ferocious, fusing techno, electro and house impressively with its mix of dark sub-bass, vocoder and rusty vintage drum machines.

Review: It's fair to say Mr Danny Daze is enjoying a fine 2014 with this debut on Kompakt's Speicher series arriving in the aftermath of two superb releases for Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic and Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio. There's a sense of prestige that comes with a Speicher release and the two powerful productions from the Miami-based Daze hint he's fully worthy of his placement in the Kompakt extra annals of fame. Lead track "Freeze (Frozen Mix)" sees Daze focus on detail, keeping the drum programming to a minimum so an accompaniment of synth washes, machine noise and muted horns can have full effect. Those wanting something a bit more marauding will be all over "Speaker Language" which pairs a powerful snare rattling groove with some treated vocals.

Review: In the time since he first appeared on Ellum Audio with The Calm last year, Miami-based house producer Danny Daze has dropped a pair of records on Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic, remix Daniel Avery as well as debut on the Speicher series from Kompakt. It's fair to say Maceo Plex's label is one that people take notice of then; so it will be intriguing to see where Daze pops up next after the excitement settles down on this second Ellum Audio release. The title track on the Flange EP is an unrelenting slice of peak time techno with the techier overtones one expects from a Ellum Audio release and it's well complemented by the markedly more unhinged Dub version. Closing track "Ritmo" offers a calming alternative to what came before though it's still got plenty of dancefloor potency.

Review: After his successful turn on Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio Danny Daze scores further points with this signing to Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic imprint, turning out a monstrous peak time club rocker that's equal parts heavy hitting and malicious restraint. The bassline stays firmly in place to keep the brain pinned down while all around it narcotic blasts of synth weirdness whirl in ever increasing displays of ostentatious production, and that's just the title track. "When The Freaks Come Out" is a more measured electro-tinged stalker, while "Beatdown" gets into a more techy 4/4 stomp sure to get fists shaking across the globe.

Review: Whatever you think about Hot Creations - and opinions are, of course, divided - you can't deny that Jamie Jones and Lee Foss's label has been a game-changer. Their combination of contemporary house grooves with classic house, disco, boogie and garage influences now dominates dancefloors the world over. This label retrospective tells the story of their runaway success between 2011 and 2012, offering up three hours of unmixed floorfillers from the likes of Waifs & Strays, Miguel Campbell, Burnski, PBR Streetgang, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, plus a smattering of lesser-known gems. For those who missed the label's formative years, there's also a tasty bonus mix of early material from Russ Yallop.

Review: Danny Daze debuts on the Ellum Audio juggernaut overseen by Maceo Plex and Alta's Ellum Audio with The Calm EP. The title track bounces in bass as slight flanging effects traverse up and down its arrangement along with other subtle and sinister synths. "I See You There" sports a poppier feel with warmer synths and vocoded vocals, but Daze brings it back to the dancefloor with some spazzed out resonators. Dexter's remix to "The Calm" raves up the original with cut vocals, a sultry spoken word sample and naughty acidics.

Review: Compilation mixer Mar-T, Ramon Tapia and a host of others deliver a fair share of toolish, tribal house on Amnesia Ibiza Electronica - but that's only part of the story. The compilation also features the deranged, woozy horn sound of Betook's "Rusty Trombone"; the aggro, abrasive house of Danny Daz's "Ghetto Fab" and the excellent, shuffling 808 drums and resonating bass of Audiofly's "No Props". Techno is also catered for, with Antonio del Prete dropping a spine-tingling big room groove and Kabale Und Liebe & Lauhaus dropping a stripped back take on Alexis Carbrera's "Wherever", while the rumbling bass and detached vocals of DJ T's edit of Tensnake's "Around The House" sounds like an alternative summer anthem.
