Review: The seventh instalment on Tommy Four Seven's label spans a wide gamut of modern techno. At one end, there's the simmering, droning abstractions of Eomac's "Refugee", while at the other end of the scale, the label owner drops "UUU", a peak-time acid banger that cruises with murderous intent. In between both of these extremes, the release yields two tracks that in many ways encapsulate the ever-shifting nature of modern electronic music. Cosmin TRG and Szare come from different backgrounds - the former originally from drum'n'bass, the latter from purist techno - but on "Singe" and "Invern" respectively, their rumbling rhythms and textured atmospherics arriving at the same destination from different start points.

Review: Slap me sideways and call me Grandpa, it's a new instalment of Killekill's Megahits series, and that means a burst of noxious techno beats from all angles. As with previous editions, we have 6 sides of wax all filled with new killers from the label's best, including Eomac, who delivers the supremely messed-up "Angel In The Marble", Bintus' nasty-as-ever acid on "Re-Clocking Knob", a gorgeous collaborative efforts from Cassegrain and Tin Man dubbed "Ad Hoc", Alex Cortex's unsurprisingly curious and marvellous "Tensegrity", and a very special appearance from Detroit legend Blake Baxter with the banging "Acid Warp Time Travel". The rest if as good, if not better - pure gold from the likes of Dez Williams, Jerome Hill, Detroit Grand Pubahs etc.

Review: This is Mord's most ambitious venture to date, with a box set of seven records laying out the Dutch imprint's tough techno agenda. Regulars like UVB and Radial set the tone, with the former dropping brutish kicks and jarring riffs on "Someone Calling Cut" and Radial veering into a pumping direction on "Cru".Label owner Bas Mooy moves the compilation towards a more streamlined approach with the dense, linear Klockworks-like "Owl In Daylight", but Herdersmat also shows that the label has succeeded in attracting some heavyweight international talent; Eomac's "Phisk" is a disorienting rave-flecked stepper and Sleeparchive drops the bleep-heavy bomb that is "Evicted".

Review: Soul Notes is a label which surfaced in 2011 and so far this year it's put out music from Efenkei and joint release between label founder Mario Castillo, aka Kastil, and Adryiano. Now Castillo goes out on his own delivering a solid three-track release featuring an Eomac remix of the title-track. "Binary Star" is a snare-heavy, breakbeat-styled techno production that Ian McDonnell totally dubs out in a typically haunting remix, while "Forrest Curtains" is a sinister cut of Detroit styled techno you could expect to hear played late in the night at Tresor.

Review: Irish producer Eomac has enjoyed a stellar 2014 and this remix package ends the year on a high note. The first remix provides a surprise, with Tommy Four Seven turning the title track into the kind of dark, rolling techno that calls big rooms its home. Over a dense, Berghain-primed rhythm, tight percussive licks and a menacing bass, horror synths screech and shriek hypnotically. Anno Stamm's take on "Su Riddim" is slower but no less intense as churning bass and freeform tonal playing unfolds over machine gun claps and a low-slung groove, while the final remix, AnD's reshape of "Shell of Dark" is a furious, breakbeat-led workout, littered with ghoulish sounds.

Review: It's safe to say that German imprint Shitkatapult can now be classed as a pillar of modern techno music. Over the years, Shitkatapult artists such as Apparat and Cristian Vogel have been very important for the development of dance music and the label has always managed to reinvent themselves. This time, it's the third edition of its Werkschau compilation, and it features some of the hottest names in the game, as well as some of the darker sonics currently being made. Inside, you'll find the likes of TTT and Killekill's Eomac, Phon.O and of course, all the label's regular stars. Ace.

Review: Lakker's Ian McDonnell steps out with a full length album for Killekill, the Berlin-based label that's been so supportive of the Irish production unit over the past four years. Spectre is the debut Eomac set but there's a confidence to the manner in which McDonnell explores various angles of techno and the hardcore continuum within the eleven tracks that's no doubt been cultivated over the course of his work with Lakker studio partner Dara Smith. The punishing half step crunch and dystopian atmospherics of open track "Su Riddim" sets the tone, as the Eomac universe is revealed to be a place of many tempos and styles. The tense face off between heavy duty basslines, brittle broken beats and heart wrenching melodic chimes on "Forest" and the lurching drama of the title track are immediate highlights but the more time you give Spectre, the more it feels like one of the techno albums of the year.

Review: Given that Krake is an annual, Berlin-based festival celebrating "challenging electronic music", you'd expect this second EP from their label offshoot to be packed with intriguing, left-of-centre gems. Happily, it is, with heaps of off-kilter goodness to enjoy. Arguably the highlight is Eomac's "No Name", a throbbing combination of jaunty, post-dubstep beats, dreamy chords and cut-up choral samples. Equally impressive are Phon.o's picturesque electronica cut "Tell Me" and "Interrupt" by the ever-reliable Monolake, a clanking, metallic foray into wonky, heads-down techno. In truth, all seven tracks are excellent, with the droning ambient contributions from Christian Vogel and Dammern also hitting home hard.

Review: Eomac is otherwise known as Ian McDonnell - one half of the Irish duo Lakker. In 2011 the duo debuted on Killekill with the Spider Silk EP, and now McDonnell dons his Eomac guise for the Berlin imprint. The Spoock EP was originally slated as Killekill's first release, but label boss DJ Flush held back the EP for three years, waiting for the day Killekill had grown in enough stature to give Eomac and his music a deserving platform. Stroboscopic Artefacts boss Lucy remixes the titles track, weighing in on Eomac's original kooky-creepy synths, but adds a fizzing wall of low end to his version. Exquisitely cut up vocals in "No Name" creating a haunting atmosphere for thocking wood block percussion and heavy broken beats to cut through, while a hollow "Stylised & Desensitised" unfurls into a procession of rocky drums and clicks unconnected to earthly matters.
