Review: The most important thing to remember when planning a high profile dubstep compilation as to keep it both interesting and abstract at the time, a theme that the CNCPT Collective team has move certainly worked into their favour on this new 'Marble Effect' compilation project. The likes of Creme, Reaction, Telfonik and Xakra all supply some killer work, but we have to take a second to highlight our two favourites. Firstly, the unpredictable percussive expressions of 'Circa's Straps & Cash' is something for your ears to behold, jam packed with metallic goodness. We also can't get enough of Muttley's lethal 'Since Way Back', giving this project enough sauce to fight with the best of them.

Review: The thing we have come to love about the Sentry Records selections over the past few years is that no matter what direction they decide to take it, we just know they are going to deliver quality with whatever they do. This second edition of their 'Syndicate' series is a perfect example of that as they unleash twelve potent dubstep originals, with the likes of Muttley, CITY1, Youngsta, Substance, CIMM and more all getting involved with some pretty incredible work. The project gives us a fabulous listing of the pure expansive nature of dubstep's sound in today's setting, with a couple of favourites including the constantly evolving, eastern-inspired sounds of Saraphim on 'The Fallen', alongside the reecey rumbles of 'Shotta Kush', which sees the super consistent LSN at it once again.

Review: Next up from the Hold Tight crew, we see them welcome the 140 wizard known as Muttley on their release schedule with this fabulous new EP drop, featuring some top draw production work from start to finish. We begin with a track entitled 'West Side', a sumptuous warbling demon, driven by it's incredibly lively LFO line amidst a bag of shimmering percussive movements. Following this, 'Saddle Dub' gives us a tasty dubwise experiment to sink our teeth into, before moving onto 'Thelma & Louise', a delicate floating creation, accompanied by a sizzling 160 remix from 'Ickle', who amplifies the tracks reggae roots in style.

Review: When it comes to underground dance music labels in the, it's pretty safe to say that Brighton based imprint: Southpoint is one of the most accomplished in regards to genre diversification. With releases popping off across grime, bass, garage and breaks, it only makes sense that they would pull together a dubstep compilation at some point. For this powerful eleven track selection, Glume steps into the hot seat on curation duty, welcoming a fearsome roster to the project, featuring JFO, Muttley, FLO, Arkwright, FLO, Drime, The Greys, Hamdi, Beanzo & more. Our immediate standouts from this well sourced collection of sub-heavy sizzlers include The super crunchy percussive influxes of Toka's 'Lickback', alongside 'Pressure Dub', a dubwise shackout from the Dub Kulcha team.

Muttley - "Sokodu" - (3:53) 140 BPM
Jakebob & Drax - "Cave" - (3:45) 140 BPM
Review: Southpoint are back at it again here as they revive one of their older series in Integrate, to showcase their latest dubstep selections. They here employ the full force of their 140BPM arm as Opus first prepares to knock the house down with the incredible bass pressures of 'Grassfruit', before label founder KXVU and long standing multi-genre wizard 9TRANE take it to the dungeon with the quirky sub slaps of 'Lugdush'. Next, Bristol based stepper supreme: Muttley gets to work with his Asian-inspired chopper 'Sokodu', before Jakebob and Drax team up in style to round off the project with Cave. Top top work from the Southpoint team as per!

Review: As a label project, it's always a pleasure to see the eatmybeat collective put out new material, with their record being so packed full of absolute gems. They join forces with the 140 through ball specialist Muttley who allows his Commissioner EP to receive a set of high profile remixes. We first look at TMSV's triplet driven rework of 'No Time', which packs a serious punch, alongside Hypho's magnificently freaky rethink of 'Commissioner'. We then finish up in a blissful explosion of sound with Kromestar's "We Are Done" remix of 'Over' taking centre stage. This one is truly magnificent, from the subtle eski melodies to the pounding subs and expansive atmospheric prowess.

C5/Still Smoking
Ishan Sound/Hodge - "C5" - (4:46) 130 BPM Hot
Ishan Sound/Muttley - "Still Smoking" - (4:22) 140 BPM
Review: Bristol bass imprint Tectonic is run by dubstep legend Pinch and returns with more dark side, low-end extremities to truly push the threshold. It is mainly about the Young Echo affiliated Ishan Sound here, who on "C5" collaborates with local scene hero Hodge for a moody downbeat affair, featuring spooky horror movie synth textures over booming kicks and trap snares. He then joins forces with the affectionately known Alex Muttley - a rising star on the local scene who lends his studio talents to the equally compelling "Still Smoking". Featuring more grime elements this time around, for this wobby and splintered basement jam that's guaranteed to get some lighters up in the air.

Cuboid (KXVU remix) - (5:32) 93 BPM
Review: Bristol's own dubstep dynamo Muttley returns to the super consistent Southpoint brand for his debut solo EP with the label. Having featured on numerous releases and remixes previously for the Brighton based project, this one has been a long time coming. The title track is Muttley at his best, with emotive eastern-inspired instrumentation running riot over heavy 808 patterns. The same goes for 'Neiru' and 'Cuboid' which are both just as energetic with more explorative drum arrangements. Finally 'Yujin' rounds up the EP with a slightly quicker powerhouse like arrangement. On remix Duty, label co-founder KXVU steps forward with his colourful rework of 'Cuboid'.
