Innocence
Review: Jordon Saxton aka Viers follows recent Eps on high-profile labels like Turbo and Figure with this high-octane, energetic release that takes influence from a myriad of sources. "EVA00" is a frenetic electro roller led by glitchy, IDM percussion and a pulsating bass, with these elements providing the backing for dreamy synth lines. On "Douglas Descend", similar stop-start glitchy percussion provides the backing for wailing vocal samples and a steely, stepping rhythm, while "Innocence" is more stripped back, with jagged synths and a menacing, recoiling bass at its core. Changing tact for 'LSD', Saxton drops a visceral warehouse techno banger.

Steel City Dance Discs Volume 12
Review: Steel City Dance Discs bills itself as a 'working class' dance label, and in Jordon Saxton aka Viers, it has identified a like-minded purveyor of gritty electronic music. "Megabyte of Rave Juice" is a raucous and effective update of the hardcore /rave axis, with Saxton laying down wild synth stabs over high-paced breaks. "Bless" is less frenetic but resounds to steely breaks, while Viers changes direction on "Four" to deliver a pounding, somewhat menacing techno track that's powered by dense kicks and cheese wire percussion. Changing tact again, "What Is it" is a glitchy, stop-start experimental piece.

Lights Out
Review: Viers aka Jordon Saxton makes his debut on Let's Play House with this scintillating release. The title track is a pummelling, percussive techno workout. Underpinned by heavy kicks, it features a pitched down vocal sample that lends the arrangement a moody feeling. The feeling on "Dolphin Telephone" is radically different, with Saxton drawing on celebratory piano lines and screeching diva vocals to create a euphoric, uplifting vibe. Changing tact once again, he delivers an acid-led electro breaker in the form of "AFB", while he returns to a more celebratory mood on "By Your Side". Like "Telephone", it is led by uplifting piano lines and soulful vocal samples.

Touch
Review: Tunes are like chat up lines. Play certain tracks and they'll suggest your possible suitor should run a mile as your house is full of empty crisp packets and slugs. Other tunes, however, will suggest nothing but class, empathy and discernment. Seriously, try it. Play "Touch" to the next person you fancy and watch their pupils dilate with wonder. Soft synths and a sultry groove ride throughout as a crafty vocal snippet weaves and bobs amidst the deep melody. It's not a million miles away from Joy-O's work, which is a whole other chapter in tune chat up lines altogether. The lush two-step showdown "Frontin" is less of chat up line and more of a tune to play a little later on at night. You can work out when.

Night
Review: Whistla's garage-championing L2S label plays host to this excellent debut from UK producer Viers, who simply smashes it on single "Night". With a radical rearrangement of the oft-sampled "Think" break providing a deeply funky and snappy flex to the beats, Viers lends it a spooked echo vocal loop and long-attack Juno chords, not to mention a subtle dose of rounded sub bass to form this future-looking 2-stepper. Fellow Brit Duncan Powell drops the remix on this one - keeping the same misty vibes but instead rocking an incredibly tight UKF-tech beat for the win.
