Review: Quite a number of techno fans will go weak at the knees when they spot this expansive collaboration between longtime friends and occasional studio partners Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock. It's their first combined release since 2013. Every one of the 7 tracks are full of high quality, atmospheric, late night techno workouts, from the creepy riffs and off-kilter drums of "Phantom Studies", and the horror-influenced post-dubstep shuffle of "The Room", to the raging, mind-altering dancefloor heaviness of "Bay Boy" and sparse, minimalist techno closer "The Tenant". Given their abilities as producers, we'd expect nothing less than superbly produced, club-ready cuts. Predictably, Phantom Studies delivers that in spades.

Review: Turns is the second album from Sam Barker and Berghain resident Andy 'Nd' Baumecker and shows that the pair have evolved and matured. "Encipher & Decipher" is rooted on the dance floor, but flows to the sound of ghostly synths and spellbinding bleeps. The pair also deploy this musical approach in slower settings audible on the reflective opener "Senden", while "Nocturnal" is an uptempo but chord-heavy groover similar to Aril Brikha. Some references to an electronic, experimental sound linger though; this is audible on the glitchy beats of "Club Entropicana" and the bass-heavy "Turnhalle", but overall, Turns is a musical, melodic affair.

Review: Any new material from Luke Slater under the Planetary Assault Systems alias is something to celebrate, but rarely has the techno veteran dropped such an expansive set as Arc Angel. Boasting a positively overwhelming 20 tracks over three weighty slabs of vinyl, the first PAS album for five years is as spacey, hypnotic and intoxicating as anything in the British techno legend's vast catalogue. While mostly focused on atmospheric, Motor City influenced dancefloor futurism - and, let's face it, few do that better than Slater - Arc Angel also boasts a handful of inspired ambient cuts, some vintage, UK style "intelligent techno", and occasional nods towards UK contemporaries such as Surgeon, James Ruskin, Mark Broom and Oliver Ho.

Wave 6 - (2:38) 160 BPM
Border - (6:59) 125 BPM
Review: Matthew Styles is by no means prolific - just 12 releases in 10 years - but still manages to bring a distinctive touch to each production. In this instance, Styles' first EP for Ostgut following an appearance on one of the Panorama Bar samplers, there's a rough and bleary feel to each composition. This sensibility manifests itself in different ways; the title track is a stepping, broken beat affair laced with acid, while the contemplative "Wave 6" sounds like it was created by the Mike Huckaby-loved synth. The only out and out dance floor track, "Border", is also notable thanks to its shimmering, sleek chords and rolling house beats.

Review: Long before the current trend of EBM/industrial fuelled techno, Terrence Fixer was there, honing his now trademark style on his highly regarded Planete Rouge imprint as well as collaborating with Nitzer Ebb frontman Douglas McCarthy for several energised live shows over the years. For Berlin institution Ostgut Ton, he appears again with "Beneath The Skin", a powerful and brooding exercise in main room techno with equal parts tension and suspense. "Trace To Nowhere" features dramatic, reverb soaked vocals backed by trippy and hypnotic madness that even Mike Parker would stand up and notice. Finally "Immersion" provides a different and refreshing perspective from the Frenchman, going for an ethereal and emotive deep techno style that's perfect for drifting.

Helios - (6:54) 87 BPM Hot
Spectrum V - (6:07) 84 BPM
Review: This is the first material from Tobias Freund in two years, but it has been worth the wait. It starts in understated form with the downtempo drones of "Lageos 1". "Nucleon" picks up the pace somewhat with its jittery, clicky rhythm and bleary bass tones, like a black hawk helicopter landing in slow motion. By the time he gets to "Helios", the atmosphere has become frostier as razor blade percussion provides the backdrop for a world of icy textures and snow-capped soundscapes. Closing track "Spectrum V" raises the prospect of the dance floor, but only if disconnected stepping rhythms and muffled robot vocals are your thing.

Review: Panorama Bar resident and Ostgut Ton mainstay Virginia is back with a full length. Whether she's lending her fine vocal talents to homegirl Steffi (who co-produced the album with fellow Dutch legends Dexter and Martyn) like she did on her Power of Anonymity album a couple of years ago on the fabulous "Yours", or getting behind the console herself to pump some sweet grooves; she sure is versatile. Fierce For The Night is a fitting title, the dozen or so tracks on here are the perfect soundtrack to a long night and morning experiencing her acclaimed residency and all inspired by the classic and timeless sounds of Chicago and NYC. Highlights include the sultry dancefloor drama of the mighty opener "Bally Linny", the Chaka Chan inspired boogie playground that is "Obstacle", the emotional and bittersweet slow-mo pop of "Believe In Time" or the high octane dancefloor bomb that is "Raverd"

Review: 15 months on from her previous Ostgut Ton appearance - the collaborative Treasure Seeking EP with pals Steffi and Dexter, Virgina Hogl returns with a brand new EP ahead of a debut LP on the Berlin stronghold. Happily she's in fine form, as the glassy-eyed, synth propelled, deep house retro-futurism of "Funkert" proves. The extended original is joined by a tasty Dub, which bobs and weaves in all the right places, while adding a little bump to the drums. As its' title suggests, "Raverd" aims for late night dancefloor domination via sustained notes, bubbly rave riffs and more confident vocalizing from Hogl. It, too, is accompanied by a vocal-less dub, on which Virginia wisely emphasizes the spine-tingling riffs and loved-up chords.

Etapp Kyle - "Nolah" - (6:19) 129 BPM Hot
Steffi - "Loweborschtel" - (5:52) 128 BPM
Review: All good things come to an end. Part ten of ten in Ostgut Ton's tenth various artists' compilation and they've recruited some of their superstar residents to give their very best. Marcel Fengler's restrained fury on "Fallin' (feat. Elif Bicer)" almost sounds like something off the soundtrack of a sci-fi film where dramatic elements face off with Bicer's angelic voice. Etapp Kyle's "Nolah" is another example of his well executed hypnotic techno with a nod to the master himself Robert Hood. Finally Steffi's "Loweborschtel" is the kind of surefire sub-aquatic electro funk and the standard in quality you'd always expect from the Dolly boss.

Review: Part nine of ten in Ostgut Ton's tenth various artists compilation and they're pulling out the big guns now to celebrate proceedings with a big bang. Star resident Ben Klock has taken quite a long hiatus from production but he's still got it, as shown on the tunnelling and cyclical cut "Sirens". Fellow resident and Detroit ex-pat Ryan Elliott serves up the soulful and emotive "Smith Lake" which is brilliant and reminds us of Exos or "Dead Eye" era Baby Ford. Finally resident party animal Len Faki surprises many with the ambient mix of his undisputed anthem "Rainbow Delta" and it is absolutely sublime; you can just drift away to this one, you'll see!

Atoma/Tobias - "Physik E7532" - (5:42) 125 BPM
Planetary Assault Systems - "Hama Static" - (5:16) 128 BPM
Review: If the Acht release accommodates Panorama Bar's house sensibilities, then Sieben is sure to be played out on Berghain's main floor. That said, the seventh release in Ostgut's 10-strong series starts with Martyn in reflective mood. With its loose, tribal drums, ponderous vocal and dubby chords, "Jah Bedouin" could be the Dutch producer's own version of Bandulu's distinctive techno. Tobias and Atoma soon pick up the pace though, and their "Physik E7532" fuses steely claps and clanging rhythms with grimy acid lines. Luke Slater ramps up the intensity levels further with Planetary Assault System's "Hama Static", a bleep-heavy banger that will drill its way into your cranium.

Review: The eighth installment in Ostgut's ten-vinyl strong release series is sure to be a desirable item not just for fans of the Berlin label. All of the tracks on Acht take the listener down a disco-fied route. First up is Berghain resident Marcel Fengler and Efdemin as DIN; the pair's "Mono" is a crackling, pulsating groove that hints at industrial and noise influences. Fiedel's "Probe 806" goes farther in this direction with an electronic rhythm underscoring detuned rave sirens. Finally, there's Tobias' "Like A Drug". Its cut-up vocal sample and tracky backing, coupled with some buzzing acid, is tailor made for the shutter-opening ritual that is central to the Panorama Bar experience.

Review: German producer Kobosil is only in his 20s, but with a residency at Berghain and releases on its in-house label and Marcel Dettmann's MDR, he has already achieved more than most young artists. Grow, his debut album, is his most ambitious move so far. With the exception of the industrial-charged "Aim For Target" and the tough house of "The Living Ritual", his main focus is on dark, eerie ambient shapes - check the title track - and the spooky drones of "Telling The Truth" and "To See Land". It's far removed from more typical Kobosil fare like the hypnotic, linear "You Answered With Love", but Grow is an assured, adventurous move from Berghain techno's boy wonder.

Konvergent - (5:52) 133 BPM
Per - (5:36) 135 BPM
Review: It's strange to think that the title of Kobosil's latest release is a reference to his birth year, the same year that Berlin institution Hardwax first opened its doors. Despite being in his mid-20s, this protege of Berghain shows that he is very skilful at creating tough but distinctive techno. "Konvergent" is all pumping, rolling bass and doubled up claps, while "Per" sees him push in a similar direction - on this occasion however, he lets spiky percussive volleys accompany his grimy pulses. There is a men-acing, moody air throughout this record, but it never feels affected or put on, nor does Kobosil rely on cheap tricks to achieve this effect. It means that the dark ambience of "Athtar" is just as spine-chillingly evocative as the howling wind and powerful bass of techno.

Review: You have to admire Ostgut Ton's ambition. While celebrating a decade in dance music with a compilation of exclusive, previously unheard music is now standard practice amongst leading underground labels, few would have the balls to release it with such a killer tracklisting as Zehn. Across the 30 tracks (count 'em!) you get a who's who of Berghain and Panorama Bar associates delivering a quite outstanding selection of left-of-centre techno and deep European house, with Marcel Dettmann, Boris, Virginia, Steffi, DVS1, Martyn, Tobias and Ben Klock all featuring. Highlights naturally come thick and fast, from the spacey electronics, heady textures and hypnotic rhythms of Function's "DX3 Analog Bass Seq", and the rush-inducing, string-laden house warmth of Matthew Styles' remix of Dinky's "Planes", to the picturesque intelligent techno of Doms & Deykers.

Review: It sounds strange to say it, but this is the happiest release that Berghain's in-house label has put out. The title track is full of mournful keys and a pulsing Chicago bass and the groove is positively jaunty. It's hard to imagine how Martyn got to this place, but equally, there is no doubt that this sweet mood suits him. "U1-U8" is more in keeping with the Dutch producer's sound, with haunting chords unfolding over furious break beats, but soon enough, he's back exploring a more contemplative sound and the loose drums and melancholic keyboard solos sound like a freeform version of Smallville/Dial's deep, reflective house.

Review: Don't you just hate it when remix EPs come filled with dull, similar-sounding reworks? Happily, Ostgut Ton is above all of that. Their choice of producers to remix cuts from Nick Hoppner's recent album, Folk, was inspired, and the results are uniformly superb. There's a brilliantly analogue-sounding rework of "Relate" by Chicago's The Black Madonna that doffs a cap to Jeff Mills, acid house and early British rave, and a trippy, dub techno-influenced, Berghain-friendly take on "Come Closer" by Lilt. On the flip, Dutch veteran Aardvarck makes "Grind Slow" sound like a mixture of instrumental industrial pop and hypnotic techno, before Herva steals the show with a rather brilliant, ambient-meets-experimental dub revision of "Rising Overheads". The latter may not be dancefloor dynamite, but it's really rather good.

Review: Dolly label boss and Panorama Bar resident Steffi returns with another single from her well received album "Power Of Anonymity". "JBW25" is a killer cut with its razor sharp synth melody and spooky pads accompanying a thumping, tightly programmed drum groove. If that wasn't enough, there are some awesome remixes on offer too. Shawn O'Sullivan and Katie Rose AKA Further Reductions turn in a fantastic version showing off their minimal wave/techno crossover style, as seen on last year's awesome album "Woodwork" on Cititrax. Then label mate and fellow Berghain resident Answer Code Request steps up with two versions; or visions, if you will. The first being a straight up, cyclical peak time destroyer. Wait until that breakbeat comes rushing in. The revision being a beast of a track. Broken and sub bass driven with a sinister squelching melody, then those huge dramatic strings come in!

Review: Berlin's Len Faki returns to his resident label with Basement Trax Vol 2. which as the name suggests, provides banging, subterranean club tools for dusty basements and abandoned power plants alike, with some of his finest work since the tracks on his Berghain 03 mix several years ago. Who could forget The Obliteration of The Berghain and Rainbow Delta. The tracks on here are a return to form by an artist now considered one of the modern greats. The pounding kick drum workout of "B-PAX" is as well engineered as only a Berghain resident could execute. We predict the chugging epic "For Real" will be destroying dancefloors worldwide this summer. Finally the gritty, entrancing bassline faces off with mutant melody in yet another peak time journey on "Hainish Cycle".

Review: Originally released on Music Man back in 2003, Fixmer's "Mekanik" has stood the test of time. If anything, it sounds more relevant now than before thanks to a renewed interest in all things wave and ebm. So what are these remixes like? Kobosil's "44 Version" is the most dance floor friendly, with a hammering industrial rhythm playing a supporting role to rave stabs. Norman Nodge's take is more understated, as insistent acid lines rise over a metallic rhythm and his Berghain colleague Marcel Dettmann's "Leitmotiv" version moves into the abstract realms, with whirring ticks and clicks supporting the original's pulses. That's not forgetting the original version, where shrieks, grunts and groans play out against one of the most powerful rhythms in techno.

DVS1 - "Electric" - (7:24) 130 BPM Hot
Steve Bicknell - "Odyssey #2" - (4:12) 127 BPM
Review: It seems Function is a fan of Cassegrain & Tin man material as he's just signed them up for his next release on Infrastructure New York. For this second Berghain 07 sampler, Function's appetite for boomy, acid techno is whetted by the collaboration's "Oxide". Meanwhile, former flatmate Ed Davenport, aka Inland, delivers "Sca Fell", a subaqueous workout that would get the Mike Parker seal of approval. DVS1 throws down some trademark warehouse beats with some caustic stabs to boot, while Steve Bicknell delves even deeper into the abyss than he did on the first sampler, with a track that's as menacing and frenetic as what Drexciya can be.

Review: It's always a good day for techno when new Steve 'master of the loop' Bicknell material arises, just like it's done here on the first sampler for Function's Berghain 07 mix. "Odyssey #1" is a distorted gyration through fizzy atmospheres and chocked bleeps, while Post Scriptum's rolling "Human Timescales" is a cross between the Hauntologists sound and the beats heard on Tobias' Leaning Over Backwards album, also released on Ostgut Ton. There's some transatlantic vibes on LB Dub Corp's "So Much", while the emerging Blue Hour sees his zapping drum track keep the sustain on his synth locked for the entirety of the track.

Review: German producer Nick Hoppner has long been part of the Ostgut Ton family, releasing his first material for the imprint way back in 2007. Here he finally delivers his debut album, Folk, a set whose title hints at the warmth of his attractive, melodious and often sumptuous blends of atmospheric techno, deep house and organic-sounding instrumentation. At its' best, the album is simply superb, delivering cuts that feel equally at home seeping from home stereo systems as booming club sound systems. In this category we'd put stand outs "Come Closer", the classic sounding "Out Of", and the dub techno inspired basement hypnotism of "Rising Overheads". It is, though, all good, with Hoppner proving adept at the very specific demands of the album format.

Review: Away from her more austere techno output, Steffi can known to be a big lover of unabashed party-time electro, and it doesn't get more exuberant and catchy than this collaboration with Dexter and Virginia in a departure from most of the output you'll find on Ostgut Ton. "Treasure Seeking" is a craftily penned crossover cut with as much pop nous as underground clout, with Dexter's squelchy sound-design looming over the mix. The "130 BPM" version gets a little more of that Detroit electro style looming over proceedings, while Diep delivers a straight-talking Motor City techno version loaded with plush string synths and stacks of energy.

Review: It's been nearly two years since Virginia's last solo single (the well-received Loch & Hill), making this belated return to Ostgut Ton well overdue. Pleasingly, it sees the Brazil-born producer in fine form, indulging her love of melodious, synth-laden productions and shimmering, emotion-rich deep house. Opener "Fictional" seemingly fizzes from the speakers, with yearning, one-note chords and bubbling electronics melodies riding a thick synth bassline and rolling deep house groove. "Never Enough" and EP highlight "My Fantasy" both sit somewhere between atmospheric deep house, Metro Area and contemporary deep disco. The latter is particularly good, and somehow manages to seem slightly sad despite its cheery, floor-friendly appeal; a genuinely bittersweet gem, in other words.

Review: When announcing the release of her sophomore set, Steffi Doms told Resident Advisor that it was "much more about how I see the dancefloor these days" than her "conceptual" 2011 debut, Yours & Mine. While there are some IDM and vintage electro influnces - most notably on opener "Pip", throbbing electrofunk jam "Treasure Seeking" (a hook-up with old pals Dexter and Virginia) and the picturesque closing track "Fine Friend" - for the most part Doms sticks rigidly to the kind of club-friendly fodder with which she made her name. By and large, this means vibrant, Detroit-influenced techno, with the throbbing "Bag of Crystals" and sci-fi leaning "Selfhood" standing out.

Review: At what point did the wave of New York house producers become closer in sound to their European peers? The turning point was perhaps the launch of Anthony Parasole's The Corner label. Whether this is the case is unclear, but there is no doubt that the US producer's links to Berlin strengthen with the release of My Block on Berghain's in-house label, Ostgut Ton. Ironically though, the title track has more in common with UK techno, its rolling drums and loopy tones sounding like a sleek and dynamic update of late '90s techno tools. "Bizarre" has a more mysterious feeling as Parasole drags the listener down a tunneling groove that sounds influenced by Prologue and Dozzy, while "Typhoon" reverts to the dense, loopy sound, this time realized through a filtered prism.

Review: It's the onset of a brave new era for Ostgut Ton as Panorama Bar 06 signals the label's decision to halt the manufacturing of CDs for their much loved series of mixes. Due for free download via the Ostgut site on August 11, the Berlin operation have not forgone the vinyl format with all the exclusives gathered by mix curator Ryan Elliott pressed up across a pair of 12" samplers. And boy did Elliott call in the favours with this first sampler featuring new and unreleased music from Neworldaquarium, Roman Flugel, Terrence Dixon, Tuff City Kids and Borrowed Identity. It is an overall exquisite selection, running from the ambience of NWAQ's contribution to Flugel's big room stomper and the sweeter, more playful sounds of Tuff City Kids and Borrowed Identity.

Individually the standard of these exclusives is remarkably high and it will be interesting to see how Elliott has slotted them all together for the free to download mix. If we had to guess, Deadbeat's superb glistening house burner "Woah" would make an appearance towards the end thanks to his high tempo, whilst Dettmann's swirling layers of ambience on "Light" feel very much like a set opener.

Review: There's a definite "no-nonsense" feel about this latest Tobias EP on Ostgut Ton. Simply titled Remixes, it sees a quartet of producers turn in typically locked-in re-interpretations of classic Tobias tracks. Matthew Jonson and The Mole join forces to turn "If" into a ten-minute chunk of broken tech-house - all bubbling electronic rhythms, relentlessly bumpy acid lines and crackly late night textures. Peter Van Hoesen takes a trip back to the early '90s with his spiraling, acid-flecked rework of "Cursor Item Only" (think Brown Album era Orbital, with a little more 4/4 techno grunt), before Blue Hour deliver a pulverizing version of "He Said" that's by far and away the EP's most bowel-bothering moment. It's no-holds-barred techno and then some, with one almighty sub-heavy bassline.

Spiritoso (club version) - (7:18) 125 BPM Hot
Martellato (club version) - (6:56) 129 BPM
Review: Let's not lie, how often do you see, or need, the words 'club version' alongside a Marcel Dettmann production? In this case, for the tracks "Spiritoso" and "Martellato" it makes sense considering the original two were disjointed, industrial-tinged scores for a conceptual performance which took place in Berghain. The first club version strips away the Panthu du Prince-style chimes and chirping bird effects and boils the piece down to a dusty beat with a resonating ambience, sinewave sweeps and the odd piano crash. "Martellato" in its original form is a haunting Phantom Of The Opera type production with this club version somehow transforming it into a watery and dubbed-out piece of tense, minimal techno.

Aetas - (8:54) 128 BPM Hot
Review: Throughout the MASSE soundtrack Phillip Sollmann & Marcel Fengler's DIN alias provided the Berghain ballet with the production's most challenging sequences. Those who enjoyed the track "RazKaz" from Fengler's Enigma EP from 2010 will warm to the subtle classical strings of "Euphorium", while bells similar to those heard on M.Bison's stage on Street Fighter II ring melodiously in an arpeggio that flickers like sunlight bouncing off the sea. "Aetas" is a production which fits in with the sketchy sounds of Tobias, and a poetic, spoken word vocal adds an extra touch of depth for a sublime cut of stony, deep, deep, house music.

Review: Henrik Schwarz is one of electronic music's most revered artists for his ability to combine jazz, flamenco and classical music with house and techno. For this third MASSE package he provides one bespoke techno track, and a second floral arrangement of the aforementioned styles. The first, "Lockstep", provides a dubby beat while a dusty snare progression snaps away like Ectomorph on overdrive, highlighting how versatile Schwarz can be with the use of only a few elements - check out Sven Weisemann's "Trackz" for another great example of this. Schwarz's "Unknown Touch Two" sees the German back in familiar territory by providing a hot-blooded, Latin-laced and string plucking piece of cinematic music with a deft touch of house.

Review: Originally released on the Berlin producer's second album, "Seduction" is less abrasive and more thoughtful than his usual fare. Over understated, tribal beats and eerie textures, Emika provides some indistinct but endearing vocals. Dettmann's own remix as Deuce is also thought-provoking rather than upfront. Over a pulsing bass and hissing percussion, he adds in screeching synth lines to add to the sense of drama. There's no danger of Dettmann or Ostgut alienating their techno audiences thanks to the remixes. Berghain resident Ryan Elliott turns "Seduction" into a rolling, driving groove, featuring a droning underbelly, insistent claps and the vocals buried deep in the arrangement. Anthony Parasole's version is impressive too, its jagged rhythms fused with what are in his hands screeching, deranged vocals.

Review: Given his relatively high productivity, it's something of a surprise to find that A Series of Shocks is Tobias Freund's first solo album since 2011. Happily, this return to longtime home Ostgut Ton is impressive. Beginning with the beatless melodic pulse of the Steve Reich-influenced "Entire", Freund works his way through a range of clandestine techno compositions, touching on claustrophobic acid and intense late night thump ("Testcard", "Ya Po"), scratchy Chicago jack ("Instant"), deeper moods ("The Scheme of Things") and, most thrillingly, early '90s influenced intelligent techno. It's in these moments - "If" and tactile ambient breaks of "Cursor Item Only" - that A Series of Shocks really flies.

Review: The brilliant Answer Code Request follows releases for his own imprint and Marcel Dettmann's MDR label to make his Ostgut Ton debut with the Breathe EP, which delivers three cuts of his individual brand of weighty, breakbeat-inspired techno. Each of the three tracks sees him in particularly ravey form; "The 4th Verdict" combines a chugging synth line with minimal Mills-inspired percussion, while "Ghostes" offers a suitably spectral vision of club techno in its cavernous chords and heavy breakbeat rhythms. The title track however must be his most euphoric to date combining headspinning chords with taut drums - another killer from ACR.

Offering a more well rounded and experimental display of Fengler's production palette than the functional techno he's issued in singles, Fokus has been a definite highlight thus far and it's interesting to see who has been chosen to rework tracks from it. Shed and Dave Clarke are naturally the headline draws here and their respective takes on "Jaz" and "Sky Pushing" are as full throttle as one would expect but it's nice to see Solar One boss Robert Witschakowski get the exposure his work as The Exaltics deserves with a killer throbbing Italo-techno rendition of "King Of Psi".

Review: Dave Sumner's debut album as Function was one of this year's most anticipated and finest LPs. Atypically, this remix package sees the commissioned producers deliver versions that measure up to the original material. On the dance floor end, there's Rrose's punishing take on "Against The Wall", which starts with a hypnotic, linear rhythm that descends into distorted mayhem, while Recondite's version of "Incubation" marries dramatic filters and insistent bleeps to reach a climax. But when the remixers go as deep as the author, the results are truly fascinating. NSI's take on "Inter" is a sprawling, jazzed out interpretation of the original ambient track, while Vatican Shadow delivers an uncharacteristically melodic, acid-tinged version of "Psychic Warfare".

Dub Corp releases over a seven year span, it's still a name synonymous with the Mote-Evolver boss and has served up some considered highlights of the producer's distinguished discography. Unknown Origin arrives on Ostgut two years after Slater's excellent Planetary Assault System long-player for the label and sees him explicitly look to alternative poetry for inspiration with dub poet Benjamin Zephaniah a prominent presence, contributing to two tracks on Unknown Origin. Despite this, the mood is still resolutely Ostgut and Slater's pedigree is clear throughout.
