Review: Armada's consistently exciting and forward thinking Soundpiercing presents yet another international gem this time for Israeli pairing Gal Abutbul and Rafael Osmo. While their home country has long reigned as the Mecca for Psy Trance, this EP veers much further away from that, although still with some interesting undertones. Title track 'Made of Love' is the real standout, the perfection combination of emotive melodies and deep progressive grooves.. It sounds wonderfully full bodied and solid, while in contrast 'Gliss' goes down a rougher, electro edged route with an instantly hooky electric lead that wont leave your head for days.
Review: IDMA nominated and Malta's leading trance force Tenishia (The Outsiders, Burning From The Inside) once again join forces with Armada linchpin Ruben De Ronde, following on from 'Story of Love'. There is clearly some magic conjured when the trio step in the studio as 'Marsascala' is another stunning production. Named after a Village on the isle of Malta, the sound-scape is beautifully picturesque, combing Tenishia's trademark emotive prog-trance vibes with the moodier melodies of the Dutchman. The Original would be hard to better with remixes, however Soundpiercing draft in Alexander Popov for the perfect uplifting alternative.. Making it this weeks essential tune!
Review: Over the past couple of years the dance scene in Argentina has blown up in a big way, and going hand in hand with that has been the onslaught of cutting edge production talent onto the trance scene, such as Heatbeat. Following in their path is young talent Chris Scweizer, who makes his Armada debut on the fittingly edgier Soundpiercing label with this massive double header. Kicking off with the proggier warm-up moment 'Ultra', rich in melodies whilst roughed up by distortion. It then steps up a gear with mighty tech bomb 'The Conquest'. Thrashing out ripping synths, a thumping kick and growling bass-lines to shake any floor to its foundations!
Review: Once again the edgier sub-label of the Armada empire, Soundpiercing keep things moving forward with an excitingly fresh debut EP from Norway's Daniel Taranger aka Nade. Across the four tracks the 20 year old flitters between progressive and uplifting, with heavy showings of playful pianos and warm pads throughout. We are digging 'Amaranthus' with its deep squelching bassline and the pacier 'Infesto'. That said, It would be criminal to just cherry pick one or two from this lot as they are all worthy of big plays.. Check it out!!
Review: Armada sub-label Sound Piercing has consistently ranked as one of our favourites within the scene leading empire. Delivering a slightly edgier and forward thinking sound, which is once again proven on this latest cut from Italy's Fabio XB. 'Luminary' is a wonderful progressive track with one of the catchiest melodies we have heard in some time. Although great in its Original form, is given a shot of adrenaline by RAM for his NRG mix. Manuel Le Saux and Yves De Lacroix also turn in solid efforts.
Review: Something seriously exciting here which rumors have been rife about on the forums for sometime, as two of trance hottest younger producers Mat Zo and Mike Foyle go head to head. As the title suggests this is 8 minutes of all the simple things, done to perfection. Laced with glorious piano lines, super cool beats and an all-round effortless flow. Every major DJ and his dog have jumped straight on this, making it one of the biggest tunes of the moment. Not totally obvious on first listen, but keep going back to hear the unprecedented intricacy... this weeks essential!!
