This Irish producer has made a name for himself with his stripped back sound, but on Slakin, he takes his approach a few steps farther and ends up with a more varied release. "Blond Slackers" is a spacey, chord-heavy affair, its wobbling bass, hissing percussion and understated drums sounding like vintage Booka Shade. The Rebekkah version is tougher and sees stomping beats prevail, alongside a detuned, evil variant on the chords. This mood persists onto "Valrhona", where a growling bass underpins eerie bleeps and a screeching siren. Finally, Hypertic takes it back to Matador's more familiar style, with a stripped back, yelping take on "Valrhona".Get new release alerts
