As Rings Around Saturn, Rory McPike has a fine track record of joining the dots between deep space ambient, early '90s IDM, mind-altering ambient techno and the kind of evocative, otherworldly deep house that seems to float from the speakers on a wave of marijuana smoke. "Circling Architecture" naturally offers up ear-pleasing cuts that mine many of the same influences, from the attention-grabbing chord sequences, bubbly electronics and laidback breakbeats of "Engineered Ruins", to the intergalactic but bass-heavy bustle of "Decompression" and the opaque early morning hypnotism of "The Edgelands", which is one of the deepest and most alluring house cuts we've heard for some time.
