Review: If you're not familiar with Sentimental Animals, there's a good reason for that: it's a brand-new Transatlantic collaboration between old pals Dicky Trisco and Razor N Tape Records' co-founder J Kriv. 'Love Vibration', their debut single, is simply superb, offering an attractive, colourful and addictive trip through hybrid disco-boogie territory complete with dextrous bass guitar, authentic turn-of-the-80s beats and a fine lead vocal from Nicki B. The pair also offers up a superb, proto-house inspired 'Basement Mix' (think Paul Simpson, Winston Jones, Boyd Jarvis etc), and 'Loose Rules', a more organic slab of disco warmth smothered in Chic-style guitars and mazy piano solos. To complete a superb package, Yuksek offers up a slightly tougher and more driving disco-house rework of 'Love Vibration'.

Review: Following up a powerful EP in the series' last edition by Brazilian superstar ANNA, Kompakt's Speicher imprint returns with more surefire techno to energise the dancefloor on edition 102. Longtime friends turned studio companions, Enzo Elia (of Balearic Gabba Soundsystem fame) and Musumeci join forces for the first time on "Gothic Safari" and indeed it's quite the nefarious journey, full of tension and suspense and perfect for dancefloor drama. Newcomer from Grenoble La Marine delivers the hypnotic minimal tech-house of "Flash," calling to mind the sounds of Dominik Eulberg or Andre Kraml from the mid-noughties. More mysterious faire awaits you on Animal Print's "The Last Night Of Laura Palmer" - a dose of brooding, Bolivian darkwave theatrics, borrowing from EBM, Italo and techno all at the same time.

Review: Not to be confused with the gentle Dutch duo of the same name, Animal is the new solo moniker for Gabriel Eugenio (one half of the more disco-orientated duo Avanti). The Aztechno EP is a no-nonsense debut and features two originals and some mixes too. Aztechno A is a body music paced jam with fizzed out oscillation aplenty, whilst part B goes further into tense body music territory. Sequencers and Mijo both tackle A, delivering some brutal arpeggiation (former) and hypnoticism (latter), whilst B is given some acidic bounce by the more melodic Basurto.
