Review: It's always good to see Argo back in action, this time touching down on the super experimental sounds of Vantage, a label that continues to push the boat out into even more unique waters with every new drop. We begin our exploration into this one with the almost R&G style instrumental chops and clicky percussive pops, followed by the more shuffled, floaty rhythmic work of 'Mist' and the more grime-inspired drumline of 'Rckz'. Finally, we jump into '2 Of Us', a much more eerie creation, which takes aquatic synths and chilling vocal samples into its sonic whirlpool and dishes out something truly unique. Top stuff.

Review: It's always exciting to see new music unveiled from the Encrypted Audio team, who have continuously pushed top quality dubstep music out on a very regular basis. This time around they welcome the sizzling steppers designs of Argo, who opens up with the creepy soundscapes and dripping percussive magnificence of 'Finesse Shot', which sets the pace very nicely, soaked in unpredictable rhythmic ideas. On the flip, more stunning sound design as 'It Does Go On' links together emotive string sweeps and choppy drum arrangements with moody subs and crunchy snare slaps for a much more alternative B-side. Lovely work!

Review: Sentry Records has put together some serious releases over the last few years, showcasing the latest and greatest in dubstep and its surrounding genres. We are therefore introduced to and absolutely storming compilation here as we reel off bangers from the likes of dubstep legends such as Caspa, Truth, Sukh Knight, Youngsta and more. For us, the highlights of this incredible compilation are quite clear, kicking off with the stunning production of 'Judas' from Nomine, who brings forward his uniquely metallic sound design on mass. Another absolute heater we couldn't forget is the spooky yet satisfying 'Crocodile' from Dayzero, packed with wicked drum flavours and haunted overtones.

Review: Argo nails the sounds of the deep like few can with this EP. Daredevil harks back to Cockney Flute, haunting woodwind that blends with sonic smoothness to create disturbing, eerie soundscapes. Keje is next and it's more of a 2-step vibe, relaxing melodies juxtapose with penetrating lows to create melancholia that makes you want to move, an almost nostalgic track that has a cinematic edge. Dimez takes a more downtempo turn, a floaty piano sample nurtures distinctly old-school vibe, rusty drums and broken atmospherics nicely diversifying the EP. The final track, Scholarship, is a subtle creeper with a wallowing bass, grounding the tune in a thought-provoking swirl of pads.

Today we're inspecting the construction site of Artikal Music UK's next project. Founder J:Kenzo employed eleven professional and highly skilled architects to carefully design, build and create a handcrafted compilation full of music he admires. As J:Kenzo explains: "The tracks included were filtered through from artists that have previously released on Artikal or have some connection with myself either being played on my Rinse FM shows or live sets". Considering the quality of each and every track, only two years of fabrication to finish off this product is remarkably short. Volume One of "The Architects" reflects J:Kenzo's refined taste in dubstep and drum and bass. On the 2 x 12" record, you'll find some absolute masterpieces from amongst others D-Operation Drop, Causa, Compa, Argo, DubDiggerz and J:Kenzo himself. The Architects' series, a yearly showcase filled with content from the label's artists plus VIP and remixes as well as bringing through new talent, will make the foundations of dubstep shake undoubtedly.

Review: Back on FatKidOnFire, Parisian bass wizard Argo is in absolutely no mood to kick-start 2017 with something tame. Instead, these four cuts showcase the deepest, most wondrous shades of dubstep, starting with the deep and cerebral whirpool that is "Around Me", followed by a similarly murky affair by the name of "Machina". "Solidz" is meaner, more pumped, and powered by an aggressive injection of growl-bass, but the tune never strays too far away from the deeper end of the dubstep sound, leaving "Symbiotic" to provide the snare lashings as one final twist of the knife.

Review: J Kenzo's Artikal Music imprint is a solid as the bass frequencies throughout its catalogue. Yes, that means a blockade of low hertz with one single mission: to dominate all corners of the dance floor. Argo has grown since his debut in 2014, and "Nooo" is what some would call 'true' or 'original' dubstep - a murky, slithering cascade of half-step beats contorted around folds of swamp bass. "Glowz" is no less foreboding in tone of voice and, in fact, this one is even darker and more ominous than the last, leaving "Stigma" to procure a more musical succession of chimes for the dread dubstep beats.

Review: Fat Kid On Fire come though with their seventh release, this time by 17-year old Parisian bass-wonder, Argo. Sharp snares, brutal kicks and razor sharp bass feature on the deep and atmospheric "Hundred", while "Plan B" utilises a sinister vocal sample which takes things in a very dark halfstep direction. Machine gun sonics, savage walls of powerful low end and driving percussion make up the last original, "Seek", while "Asylum" gets a remix from Living Proof, who turns in a real head nodder worthy of Argo's originals, accented by some tasty dub influences. Highly recommended!
