Review: Former Glenview Records scalpel fiend Buzz Compass has appeared on Editorial releases countless times over the last few years, though this is the first time the imprint has granted him the honour of a full solo EP. He subsequently delivers, slowly sashaying between the jazz-guitar-laden Balearic/deep house fusion of "Aqua", the picturesque, glassy-eyed flutter of "Oh Baby", the warm and enveloping, LTJ Style disco-house hypnotism of "To Be Loved", the electric piano-sporting deep house breeze of "Joy" and the chunky, bass-heavy flex of filter house workout "Izy" (seemingly a rework of a chant-along Brazilian jam). Excellent stuff, all told.

Review: 13 months after first slipping out on vibrant purple vinyl, Whiskey Disco's compilation style "Sounds of the Inner City" EP finally makes it to digital. And not a moment too soon, either, because Alex Zuiev's throbbing, acid-flecked disco-house revision of "Bus Stop" is an absolute stormer (and, for the record, pre-dates the Chaka Khan's similarly minded, "Bus Stop"-sampling "Like Sugar"). There's plenty to set the pulse racing elsewhere on the EP too, from the slap-bass propelled brilliance of Murge's swirling orchestral disco rework "Sounds of the Inner City", to the low-slung, bass-heavy boogie badness of Frank Angles' "Please U".

Review: Lepizig crew A Friend In Need regular serve up compilation style EPs featuring tasty tracks from a select group of like-minded local and international producers. Here they go further, delivering an expansive, 11-track collection that could well be the imprint's strongest release to date. After beginning with a chunk of sparkling ambient brilliance by Afinns, the set flits between deliciously dreamy, groovy and tactile mid-tempo fare (mostly courtesy of slo-mo specialists such as Heion, loop-master 78 Edits, MermaidS, La Tumerie and Buzz Compass) and more peak-time-friendly tackle that similarly fuses elements of swirling deep house, rubbery disco and glassy-eyed boogie. These cuts are particularly potent, with the contributions by Mono & Luvless, Lootbeg and Quadrakey standing out.

Review: On this latest must-have missive, the Editorial crew has assembled an all-star cast of re-editors and house-loving disco rework merchants. Thrillingly, it contains a now rare outing from slo-mo specialist Duff Disco, whose atmospheric, beatdown style chugger "Always on My Mind" is undoubtedly one of the best things he's released in years. Props, too, to Irish disco-house specialists Get Down Edits, who weigh in with the warm and summery grooves of "Hey (What's Happening)". Elsewhere, Buzz Compass subtly beefs up and filters out a sleazy disco favourite on the constantly rising "U Deserve It", while Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee get the party started in their inimitable style via a touch of disco/hip-hop fusion ("Moonlite").

Review: The first installment of the Masterworks' Bag Of Tricks series went down a treat upon its summer release. Now it's the autumn and they've rustled up some more edits, 15 in fact, again featuring some big names on the nu-disco scene. This new comp will one and all swinging from the rafters from fireworks parties to Christmas knees-ups. Highlights include the Cathy Dennis-sound-alike cowbell jam "You Know How" by RobJamWeb, the swaggering guitar strut of "The Walk" by Silver Rider and Rabo & Snob's quirky, perky hiNRG pumper "Harry Rama".

Review: Since launching last spring, Lootbeg's A Friend In Need label has established itself as a reliable source of deep house/disco fusion, delivering the kind of heady, loopy material that was once the preserve of the Dikso and Instruments of Rapture imprints. No Jacket Required, the Leipzig-based label's first compilation, tells the story so far. There's plenty to get excited about throughout, from the smooth, Balearic-inclined grooves of MermaidS, and the sumptuous loop disco deepness of 78 Edits' "I'll Be Here For You", to the fluttering acid lines, enveloping pads and eyes-closed grooves of Gregory Dub's "Acid Spacejam". Even more impressive is the contribution from Buzz Compass, which offers a decidedly summery deep house revision of a Terry Callier classic.
