There's the lush melodies and breathy vocals of label owner Mark Knight's "Make You Happy". Meanwhile, vocal tracks are, as always, a prominent feature. Pete Griffiths delivers a soulful track in the shape of the piano-led, celebratory "Get Together", while Melanie Ribbe's "Big" is a more subtle affair, with haunting vocals riding a rolling, techy groove. Review: Canadian tech house hero Nathan Barato is up next on Hot Creations, stepping away from his usual tough rolling tech-house sound for this full length. Review: Aside from a slurry of EPs for important house and techno labels like Rekids Area Remote, Canada's Nathan Barato has become a fundamental member of Jamie Jone's Hot Creations crew, and that in itself is a sign of respect. The present Freak Beater is the man's fourth EP for the label, and "Stomp Change" kicks things into motion with an instantly penetrative, deeply engrossing groove that sits somewhere between tech-house and high-speed electro-juke; the tune is one to bang out at peak time, that's for sure. "Freaks Of The Industry" is no less abrasive and floor-proof, except that the groove is a lot more fluid, leaving more space for the percussion to mould around the track's freaky bass ensemble. Another pair of HC party starters.

Review: Mexican producer Hector has sure come a long way. From his humble beginnings in London's underground scene, working the counter of London's infamous Phonica record store and becoming a regular at popular London haunts of the time like fabric and T Bar (R.I.P.) he has gone on to international stardom, playing the word circuit and launching his Vatos Locos imprint: the very label which launches this compilation and credited to the highly popular Playa del Carmen festival that he has since become a regular guest at. Highlights on here (and there's many!) not limited to: the hi-tech soul sounds of Carl Craig with his classic "Sandstorms" or Martin Buttrich with his classic from 10 years ago "Full Clip". Review: Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records has become an institution for all things tech-house, where the finest new talents such as Canada's Nathan Barato find their home. Barato has already released an impressive line of E's on labels like Rekids and Defected, and as with his previous releases, "Under Dirt" is a deep and meditative, dance-floor clusterbomb, where shimmering chords meet seductive vocals and gritty percussion. "Old Evolution" is a little bit wilder and more bumpy, bringing in a housier flex to the equation, whereas "Black Beach" is comparatively more stripped and minimalistic, reminding us of Dubfire's finest moments. Another Saved missile!
