Review: Junior Sanchez may not enjoy quite as high a profile as he did back in the nineties and noughties, but he continues to deliver regular doses of tried-and-tested dancefloor gold. His latest EP - his first for Crosstown Rebels - ticks a lot of boxes, delivering a quartet of cuts tailor-made for big rooms and dark basements. He first joins forces with fellow scene stalwart Todd Terry on 'Live Forever', a slowly building, tactile chunk of celebratory house retro-futurism that's as spine-tingling and rushing as they come, before opting for heavier bass on disco-tinged number 'After Love'. 'My Mind Goes' is an even heavier and more psychedelic late-night bumper, while 'Body Heat' is a wonky techno number full of mind-mangling riffs, warped bass and Switch style beats.

Review: New York veteran Junior Sanchez comes to Spain's Stereo Productions with a three-track EP here. In its Original form, 'Live Longer' is a looping disco-houser from the non-cheesy side - think Henry Street rather than Hed Kandi - that packs some very mid-90s sounding synth stabs. The accompanying Javi Bora Remix doesn't change much, structurally, but rides darker, more pounding 4/4s and as such is probably the pick for the bigger rooms, while the EP's completed by 'Love So Good', a more peaktime/hi-octane affair featuring that much-sampled Loleatta (or was it Millie?) "whoo, all right!" shout and a snippet from Cheryl Lynn's 'Encore'.

Review: Given that the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is happening on their doorstep, it's little surprise to see Armada Music's house offshoot Armada Subjekt releasing a celebratory compilation. Featuring no less than 30 cuts the label expects to do the business during the weeklong event, it's full to bursting with high quality club cuts. Highlights include Gerd Janson's chunky, acid-flecked revision of Joe Smooth classic "Promised Land", a muscular, mind-altering dark room take on Harry Romero's "Tania" by Honey Dijon, a sublime chunk of classic-sounding peak-time house from Low Steppa and Amy Douglas ("Burn Me Up"), a ludicrously sub-heavy slab of dark garage from Javi Nora and Piem, and some slick big room tech-house business by DJ Vivona.

Review: Amsterdam Dance Event holds a special place in the electronic music community's calendar, and it just wouldn't be the same without the Toolroom family putting on a very special showcase for the industry and punters alike. The Dutch capital's clubbing culture is one of the best in Europe and there's only one place to be this October. They join the fun once again this year and this are kicking off the week at Chicago Social Club for an opening to ADE like no other. In celebration, Mark Knight & Co. anticipate the event with this solid collection of sonic arsenal with highlights not limited to: label staple Weiss serving up classic vocal funky house on "Let Me Love You" (extended Club mix), legends Dirty Vegas getting remixed by CamelPhat on the extended remix of "Days Go By" (which reaches near acid moments), the ever impressive Alan Fitzpatrick providing austere peak time tackle on banger "The Approach" and rising stars like Jacky (with Example) on the wonky tech house of "Another 24" and label newcomer Maxinne dropping the riveting main room thriller "The Message" amongst many more. Review: NYC veteran Sanchez comes to Manchester's Kaluki label with two fine house jams. It's so subtly done that you might not notice at first, but 'Be So Deep' is based around a couple of vocal snips from Odyssey classic 'Inside Out', looped up and placed atop a backing comprising shufflin' beats, an understated bassline and insistent but not in-your-face organs. 'Places', meanwhile, plumps for more straight-up driving 4/4s, a hefty b-line, old skool Chicago synths and, rather oddly, part of the lyric to Inner City's 'Good Life' spoken by a male voice. And both cuts have the kind of class that only 25 years in the game can confer!

Review: Melbourne's Circa Trax are back, following up some great releases recently by the likes of Holmes John, Tim Light and Peekay with this new one by a couple of right legends. US veteran Junior Sanchez teams up with Chicago deep house vethero now based in Adelaide James Curd (Greenskeepers) on "Everybody Wants" - a funked-up and loopy disco jam delivered in both artist's trademark style. There are some great remixes too: Curd himself steps up to give the track a lo-slung makeover, while Superlover elevates the track with a powerful funky house style of flavour. Finally, Jerk Boy goes deeper into the night with his smooth and sensual perspective.
