Arkwright - "Course" - (5:39) 130 BPM
Review: Straight out of the dubbed out streets of Manchester, we are pleased to welcome Hypho and Amadeo Sanchez's new project 'Manuka' as they unveil their debut four track drop. We kick off with new school dubstep high flyer: Arkwright, with his shimmering roller in 'Course', before dipping into Kelly Dean's dungeon dwelling demon in 'Childs Play', which is packed to the rafters with reesey energy and grizzly subs over skippy 4x4 infused beats. Next, Sensei brings some more original flavour as the gritty bass tones of 'Red Cross' run riot, along with the wobbly moogish bass designs of Zygos on 'Paz', rounding off a fantastic debut release.

Kommon - "Outfitter" - (4:55) 134 BPM
Dr Cryptic - "You" - (7:33) 130 BPM Hot
Review: Dr.Cryptic's Chip Butty Recordings is a Sheffield-based label focusing on all underground dance sounds: from garage to UK funky and bass, and it has been on a high since its first EP back in 2011. This time, Dr.Cryptic himself teams up with newcomer Kommon for a four-track bombshell, ranging from two-step to more housey realms. Kommon's "Kariboo" is a shaking, no nonsense jacker whereas "Outfitter" goes deeper into the bass medley. Dr. Cryptic touches down with "You" and "RoboJim", two bouncy and immediately alluring pseudo-garage clusterbombs - Chip Butty in it for the win!

Bloodman - "Jones" - (7:30) 130 BPM
Played by: Paul Mac
Review: Pulling together a healthy spread of their roster, Decarhythm ably demonstrate their increasingly focused musical remit on this four-tracker. There's lean techno to be enjoyed from Genotype, where the bassline rules the day and the beat is an exercise in restraint. Kamikaze Space Programme plump for a shufflier approach to 4/4 with "Bhopal", although still plumbing a dark deep-space vibe. Bloodman has a decidedly straight-up tech-house atmosphere at work on "Jones", while Orphan 101 similarly ticks away with a warm sound that peppers the minimal groove with a light dusting of electro. For that sturdy peak-of-the-night tech-edged sound, Deca Rhythm seem to be an increasingly wise destination.

Heritage & Delo - "Babylon Gone" - (4:53) 132 BPM
Review: What an interesting selection we find ourselves perusing here as Left, Right & Centre unveil this top quality new four track selection, showcasing some of the most forward thinking sounds in bass music. We begin with unorthodox rhythmic designs, wailing vocal sampling and warbling bass textures of Henzo's 'Duck & Pancakes', before Heritage and Delo provide us with a heads down bass slap, packed with metallic drum goodness. Next, the delicate percussive grooves of Josh Scott's 'Metropol'' are introduced to the selection before finishing off with the techy-inspired drum alignments and pulsating synthesizer drills of 'Drifting Off'. Amazing work from the Left, Right & Centre team!

Zissou - (4:05) 130 BPM
Review: The UK's Wisdom Teeth closes out 2021 with a fresh four-track from K-LONE that takes in variations of Baltimore club, UKG, dubstep and a touch of digi-microhouse to be found in feel-good banger, "Airtight". With soft, sweet and atmospheric steppers helping to build "Softie", "Deluxe" turns towards floating and sustained house chords that counterbalance the vampire dubs of its Bristol-inspired bassline. The title track, though, sees Baltimore club all up in the place with stuttering percussion, looped and detuned vocals alongside atmospheric dispersions of sound that sweetly transition into hisses of noise floor and house music bliss.

Review: It's time to explore the unexpected here as we jump head first into the latest selections from the Colony team who unveil a very weighty full length project from K.L.O. The project is absolutely stacked with collaborative energies for starters, with exciting features including the likes of Kursa, Lone Drum and Osmetic. Our favourites across the whole project have to include the super syncopated hip hop flavours of 'Lamp Sandwich', alongside the demonic synthesizer slaps of 'Avant Parred' and eerie melodic twists of 'Yo Eye Right Now'. We would thoroughly recommend letting this one roll out on long play!

Kahter & Pluralist - "Eostrix" (Pluralist remix) - (5:26) 132 BPM Hot
Review: We are absolutely loving what the team at Manuka are putting together far this year, with the label seemingly intent on exploring the swampier side of techno and dubstep. This latest selection Kahter definitely dives down that path as we explore the title track 'Metanoia', a sizzling metallic jamboree, stuffed full of unpredictable percussive lines and vibrant subs below. Next, 'Eostix' gives us a robotic throwback into stuttered synthesizer displays and breathy percussion. On remix duty, head honcho: Hypho steps up to unleash an 808-driven rethink of 'Metanoia', with Pluralist then slapping down some choppy rhythms within his computerized overhaul of 'Eostrix'

Spicule (original mix) - (4:40) 130 BPM
Review: What a pleasure it is to see another new collection of heaters from eatmybeat, a label that has consistently blessed the JunoDownload store with heaters since their inception. This time around, Kahter unloads five fireballs, with the steadily stuttering percussion and subs of 'Kord', alongside the groovy rhythmic swoops of 'Round Cell' kicking us off in style. Next, 'Spicule' ties together syncopated percussive pops and moody sublines for even more darkened goodness, with the electro-sounding drum processing of 'Touch' then following in similar fashion. Finally, Kimber takes 'Kord' and reshapes it into a truly defiant creation, fitting into no genre boundaries yet working on so many levels.

CBD Control - (5:29) 130 BPM
Review: As always with the 81 UK crew, we are in for a bit of an explorative treat with this sizzling new for track showcase from Kahter. We kick off our journey with 'CBD Control', a clicky combination of industrial sounding synthetics and groovy syncopated drum arrangement, giving us a robotic yet charming introduction. Next, the broken-beat rhythms and glitchy bass notation of 'Contagion' give us another sonic avenue to explore, before the intense drum triplets and distant breathy stabs of 'Impendi' again up the pressure. Finally, the stuttering ascending synthetics and grizzly bass drones of 'Spores' give us a punchy outro to a very well rounded collection. Lovely work!

Selecta - (4:50) 133 BPM
Review: Benny Kane returns to Apexape with a thunderous three track EP, bringing through some serious heat. He hasn't released much as of yet, but we're all very impressed by his funky take on UK bass house, and "FX" itself is a glorious power-tune, dashing out heavy basslines and shuffled garage breaks. "Keep Your Soul Up" is more contained and hazy but nonetheless filthy on the dancefloor and features the lovely vocals of Eva Lazarus, whereas "Selecta" feels like its skunked-out sibling, pulsating with mutant bass and an almost D&B low-end to its core. Large.

25 Years Of Metalheadz Part 3
Drum Trip (Wheeler Rebuild) - (3:32) 130 BPM
Review: Metalheadz's march towards twenty five years continues, as does their revisitation and exploration of back catalogue classics, with a twist. Episode number three takes the furious sounds of Kaotic Chemistry's 'Drum Trip' and 'Jupiter' and reworks them, with production courtesy of Detboi, Madcap, Wheeler and Kaotic Chemistry themselves. Madcap's take on 'Drum Trip' is clean and precise, with a rolling drum break that builds through a gorgeous reece line for an instantly classic sound, one that's tied with the Metalheadz aesthetic both past and present. Detboi makes two contributions, and it's his Low Ends and Amens take on 'Drum Trip' that impresses most, with the rhythmic diversity he's become known for on full display, and Detboi sprints through downtempo breaks, stuttering claps and rusty percussive textures in his quest to create something with moodiness at its core. Finally, Kaotic Chemistry themselves turn 'Jupiter' into a fractious version of its former self, one which perfectly straddles the divide between jungle experimentalism and modern toughness. Seminal.

Review: One half of a London duo also featuring Tee, Karl Vincent has taken the step of exploring further options with this essentially solo offering. That said, he ropes in a host of collaborators to assist him on these five bangers, including Tee who appears alongside Dephex on the beefy 2-step influenced opener "Outer Space". Elsewhere Swedger appears on the chaotic heavy roller "Buzz", Link provides extra drama on the orchestrated 4 x 4 pounder "Escape", Tik & Borrow inject some techy edge on "Cops & Lawyers" and Dephex returns for some dubby UKG on "On The Run".

Review: This joint EP of fresh new roster talent is a pleasingly varied affair in which the In:Flux crew get to flex their creative A&R muscle. The two artists showcased here couldn't be any more different - Karl Vincent & Tee provide two raw cuts of rowdy and snarling garage ("The Tiger", "The Piano) whilst Chute is all about tough, but euphoric raw house ("To The Knuckle", "Hot Mess").

Review: Next up from the MELD team, a vibrant collection of forward thinking remixes are given to us a fiery display of their 2022 intent. We kick off with the industrial drum work and distorted mastery of Jennifer Walton, who arrives for a fabulous refit of KAVARI's 'Skee', setting the bar extremely high from the jump. Next, Pluralist lands in typically classy form, delivering a percussive-driven overhaul of Mercy System's 'Troika Planet', complete with quirky blips and a constantly evolving sense of rhythm which leads us perfectly into our final remix. Mercy System is one again the test subject with Bolam this time unleashing a post-garage rework of 'Every Time I See You', focussing intently on unique drum design and colourful soundscaping, rounding off this wicked selection in style.

All Night EP
Champion - (4:45) 133 BPM
Review: Straddling the grey zone where techno, garage and bass all intermingle is KEEFE's All Night. The title track is a good example of how this approach plays out. Over an intense, rolling techno groove, KEEFE weaves in repetitive vocal samples and whooshing filters. "Blue Calm" follows a similar trajectory - on this occasion, a wailing diva brings her uplifting tones to an intense, raw groove. "Drop Dat" veers more towards garage, thanks to the use of an ominous bass and skipping drums. This influence is also audible on "I Was There", but this time the sound is more soulful, as a stepping groove and a bruising low end underpin soulful vocals.

Hallucinogen
All The Way Down (feat Gaika - Kahn remix) - (5:48) 131 BPM
Review: Kelela's Hallucinogen isn't technically a new release. In truth, all of these tunes have been out already on Warp; the first part of the release featured all the original cuts while the second focused solely on remixes. However, there's just something right about releasing them together under one roof...the timing of this thing is just right given the artist's recent touring schedule. Her style is what we would call 'SDM', or 'Seductive Dance Music', which basically means a gorgeous blend of electronica and r&b vocalism, all tied together by that unmistakable Warp charm. Fans of artists like Throwing Shade will appreciate tunes like "A Message" or "Rewind", not to mention other pearls like the lead tune "Hallucinogens". The remixes all offer different and equally enticing.

Life Different Now - (5:37) 130 BPM
Life's Different Now (Roots VIP) - (4:03) 130 BPM
Review: Keysound have a real knack for delivering unique sounding releases that really do push the bar up every time, a theme they continue to push with this fabulous new display from Kellen303'. The four track EP opens up with the dungeon-like reverberations and heavily textured backdrops of 'White Label', which through potent bass melodies and crunchy, minimal percussive clicks, gives us one heck of an intro. From here, the shimmering synthetic pops of 'The Dream' weave their way into view, backed by a breathy collection of synthesizer slides for good measure, before 'Life Different Now' fuses post-breaks drums with a seriously haunted sense of atmosphere, giving us a seriously unique piece of sonic art. We then take in the 'Roots VIP' of this one to follow, which focuses on a much more spacey arrangement, giving the track an alternate, more abstract look to round off the project in style.

Review: Kellen303 is a Brooklyn based DJ and producer who is Transit.fm co-founder and self-described word of mouth badman - a music junkie who appears here for the London-based dubstep label Keysound ,owned by Dusk and Blackdown. From the stripped back drum and bass deconstruction of "Planet X" to the bleak urban landscapes as described by Bronx based Afro-Dominicano MC Rainey on "Spy Glass" - you can see why this talented producer's dark sound appealed to this usually UK-centric label. The rapid-fire drum attack of the fiercely orchestrated "Big Shot" is also worthy of mention. All in all a unique hybrid, with tracks that are inspired by goth rock/industrial, footwork and vogue music.

Step With Me
Cascade - (5:00) 130 BPM Hot
Review: Keeping the London-based deep house sound alive and well is one Kempston Hardwick, a producer still wet behind the ears thanks to a deuce of debut records for Lobster Theremin and SITU Records. Keeping on that tip is a third release for Distant Horizons that sees KH throw down some power house chords and Chicago keys in "Roxy's Party" next to some stripped back rhythm tracks in "Cascade" and the percussive, vocal chants of "Leonila". And for that classic touch of UKG beit US garage, "Step With Me" fills in any blanks. Future classic UK house for the archives.
