Review: Having invigorated the breakbeat scene in his native Spain, Seville's Digital Base now sees his first full-length album drop on iBreaks, ready to take on the whole world. Oldies like "Turn Me Out" and "Get On Dance" get included along with a whole range of new jams and some essential remixes too. After a long build-up, opener "Decibellum" immediately provides a storming start - a real masterclass in how to juggle a variety of beats and breaks into an energetic and dazzling mix. "Right There" follows up shortly after and sets the real vibe for the album - hard and dirty breakbeat but balanced with plenty of melody - in this case via a round-the-houses cover version of Fatboy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now". Included with the album are a set of remixes of DB tunes new and old, and some DB remixes of others (such as his truly standout treatment of DJ Mutiny's "Dreams Come True"). Names like Dekoy, Rex, 4Cuba and Break The Box all turn in blinders, but it shouldn't distract from giving Digital Base his props on dropping such a well-crafted and unrelentingly banging debut.

Review: Ils aka Illian Walker's recent LP for Distinct'ive was a massively welcomed addition to the D&B world, and we're happy to announce that the label have decided to give the featured track "Dark Skies" a solo release with a handsomely picked squadron of remixers. Of course, the original breakbeat monster is there between Rennie Pilgrem's squelching jungle retouch; Behind The Scene's fast-moving ante-up; a housey refix by ManOne; iDiJi's broken beat re-interpretation and the original's powerful instrumental.

Review: It's booty time... German style! Lipa's vibes have been felt across nu funk floors far and wide. While leaning towards the more authentic, original-material side of scene here he's showing the pretenders how to do mash things up good and proper. "I Follow River" takes Lykke Li to a very dark place, "Down With My Trumpet" gives Rizzle Kicks a badboy makeover, "Soundboy Go Home" punches both Buju Banton and Cocoa Tea in the groove goolies and "Children Of The Revolution" introduces T Rex to dubstep. Review: Jiggy Joe (that's his real name, we've checked his birth certificate) has been a little silent since his previous three bootleg bonus packs came our way last year, but it's clear he's been busy toiling away at his machines to create this monster selection. He leads with "Didgeridoo" which sounds like the Chems circa Exit Planet Dust but with added hype-fuelled lyrics. The two remixes by Bobby C and Funkanomics take it to completely different party pastures, making it a great release in its own right before you even get to the cheeky reworks elsewhere on the package. "Sweets For The Tiger" is the balls out theme Rocky would've endured a million montages for. "Ready Or What?" is the best Fugees remake since Hype got heavy on them years ago while "Tell Me Do You Like It" sees Joe taking a Mylo-favoured sample and making it his very own. Get Jiggy!
