Mitiko - "Jazz De Primavera" - (4:52) 114 BPM
Tonbe - "Angel" - (5:51) 115 BPM
Tonbe - "Come Around" - (5:15) 119 BPM
Review: On the whole, it might be better if Milos Djordjevic (Tonbe/Loshmi) and Sasha Mitich (Mitiko) weren't quite so talented - that way, yours truly wouldn't have written so many glowing reviews of their releases that it's getting quite embarrassing now. I should probably just buy a set of Tonbe pillowcases and have done with it! Anyway, here's another joint outing from the two Balkan boogie merchants, which - like previous installments - includes a mix of new and previously released material, spans funk, disco, boogie and soul, and features both original (albeit often sample-based) productions and Loshmi's masterly reworkings of cuts from Barbara Streisand, Mark Morrison and more. Sterling stuff all round - again, just like previous installments.

Mitiko - "I Like What You Doing" - (4:26) 117 BPM
Played by: Tonbe, Kongisto
Review: Serbian disco producer extraordinaire Tonbe once more teams up with his Montenegran counterpart Mitiko, as well as with himself in his Loshmi re-editor guise. Loshmi's uptempo rework of Dillinger's 'Cocaine' gets the ball rolling, after which come takes on Chaka Khan's 'I'm Every Woman', The Flirts' 'Passion' and The Salsoul Orchestra's 'Take Some Time Out For Love', plus a brace of unidentified Latin cuts. After that come three cuts from Mitiko, with 'In Your Soul' drawing heavily on Soul Children's 'Stir Up The Boogie' from 1978 and 'Morning Talkbox' bringing the Zapp-isms, before Tonbe plays us out with three tracks of his own, including the rumbustious 'Funkstar' and the Alpha Blondy-biting 'Sabari'.

Review: With a new year upon us, Tonbe has decided to gather together another selection of highlights from his dependable Disco Fruit imprint. As you might expect, the ten tracks are all "tried and tested" dancefloor destroyers, most of which effortlessly blur the boundaries between original disco and boogie, and more contemporary, house-centric grooves. Highlights are plentiful, from the sinewy strings and breezy beats of Tonbe's "I Feel Energy" and Deelicious' bustling AOR disco rework "Why Did You Do It", to the rubbery slap-bass and spiraling synthesizers of Evil Smarty's stand-out "This Is". Gradient Logic's "Juice", the most recent release on the collection, is also rather fine.

Review: Serbian disco head Tonbe has previously impressed with a string of EPs in which he effortlessly joins the dots between disco, funk, soul and house. On this debut album, he's at it again, delivering a 10-track collection of contemporary disco-funk jams smothered in clipped guitars, rubbery basslines, sturdy house beats and rasping horns. While the formula is simple, the results are never less than excellent. From the winding flute solo and double bass pressure of "Double Bass Rules" and loose funk shuffle of "Horny & Sexy", to the smooth Hammond and swinging beats of "Raw Taste", Detective's Story is a veritable sprint through head-nodding, toe-tapping, hip-wigglin' dancefloor goodness.

Review: Why Tonbe isn't more widely renowned is a mystery: for my money, he's one of the most accomplished and consistent producers working in the modern disco arena. And oh BOY does he have a way with a drawn-out stab! He proves the latter once more on 'Come Around', a midtempo jam that you can call disco, soul or boogie as you see fit, and which comes with or without the harmonised male and female vocals. There are some superb jazz keys on 'Late Night Burbon', too, but the stone-cold killer is 'I Wanna Be With You' - file under "deep, smooth, sultry, gorgeous".

Review: Tonbe's music has spanned a range of styles from Balearica to boogie, but when he calls his latest long-playing offering 'Postive Funk' you kinda know what to expect, don't you? Thankfully the titular promise is one on which he more than delivers, with the album striking a nice balance between raw, 70s-sounding funkers like 'Funkstar' and 'Dig It', and more 80s- or pop-flavoured nuggets such as 'Ain't Nothing Wrong' or 'Live My Life'. Highlights for yours truly include '15th Street' (home to some extremely cool Hammond licks) as well as 'Another Bite', which takes some downright liberties with a Queen classic.

Summer Education - (6:40) 117 BPM
Review: Serbian producer Milos Djordjevic returns with another three reasons to be cheerful, and an EP bristling with classic funk, soul, disco and boogie touches. His formula - head-nodding house blended with edit style loops and neat musical touches - rarely fails to deliver the sort of rock solid grooves guaranteed to ignite the dance. Here, the real killer is arguably "Funkstar", a thickset fusion of sturdy house grooves, clipped funk guitars, sprightly horns and gritty bass. That's not to say the other two tracks aren't hot, mind; "For My People" is a groovesome chunk of jazz-funk goodness (with house bottom end), while the drifting horns, loose rhythms, eyes-shut guitar solos and rolling Hammond organs of "Summer Education" are every bit as intoxicating.

Review: Last month saw two East European disco favourites, Serbia's Tonbe AKA Loshmi and Montenegro's Mitiko, joining forces for a split EP on the former's Disco Fruit label. Now the same imprint brings us this joint collection that gathers together the best of the two producers' 2021 output, in all three of their guises. The tracks involved are a mixture of re-edits, covers and original material; more importantly, both producers are ludicrously prolific, which means they had a huge catalogue to draw from. And that in turn means there's nary a track that puts a foot wrong here - making this an essential purchase for anyone who hasn't picked these cuts up on various EPs along the way.

Review: Following a recent acclaimed re-edits outing under his alternative Loshimi alias, Serbian producer Milos Djordjevic once again dons the Tonbe guise for a trip into cheery disco-house/nu-disco/deep house fusion. As usual, he has his eyes fixed firmly on the dancefloor, delivering a quintet of tracks that lace chunky house grooves with all manner of authentic disco elements (think clipped guitars, rubbery bass, slippery synths and breezy vocals). There's naturally plenty to enjoy, from the Clavinet-laden disco-funk thrills of "Give Me Funk", to the dreamy vocal sweetness of "This Is The Place", via the sharp string stabs and parping horns of "Disco Frisco".

The production on these little bombs is rather impressive thanks to Tonbe's groovy hooks and pin-point arrangements, something can be heard loudly on the beat-heavy "Always On My Mind", the utterly funky and string-heavy "Dig It", and of course the electro-flavoured "Disco Laser".

Tonbe turns in some cosmic party jams in the form of "Cosmic Nag", Disco Frisco" and "Rhapsody" taking in some cheeky well known samples in the process. Review: By our reckoning Serbia's Milos Djordjevic, better known as Tonbe, has AT LEAST a dozen album-length releases to his name, but he shows no signs of slowing down just yet! Here comes another one, wherein fairly 'authentic-sounding' disco and boogie grooves like 'Closer' and 'Golden Days' are interspersed with more lounge-y and Latin-flavoured cuts such as 'Varadero' and 'Ven Pa Ca'. Elsewhere, Tonbe flirts with the sound of West African reggae on 'Senegalese' while 'El Mariachi' brings the Western movie theme vibes, before the album comes to a close with a slab of heavy, geetar-squawlin' Blaxploitation funk in the form of 'Beat Me Like A Funk'.

Review: What we have here is arguably the first ever two-man disco threeway, as Serbian disco don Tonbe (Milo? Đorđević) teams up with his Montenegran oppo Mitiko (Sasha Mitich) and himself in his Loshmi guise. As for the album that's emerged from their joint efforts, well, the clue's in the title, as the two nu-disco stalwarts dive into a big cupboard full of flamenco guitars, marimbas and mariachi trumpets, and come out clutching 10 Latin-infused dancefloor shakers built for effortless grooving in the summer sunshine. Highlights, you ask? Check the low-slung funk of 'Con Sabrosura' or the jazzy shuffle of 'Portoriko'.

All Night With Ivy - (5:52) 115 BPM Hot
Review: On his many releases, Serbia's Milos Djordjevic (aka Tonbe) likes to jump between 70s and 80s styles of dance. Here its all about the 80s boogie, with the chiming pianos of "A Night With Ivy" revealing a serious case of the Imaginations. Elsewhere "Diva" hints at a bit of Italo-Disco with some mean arpeggiated riffage, "Party Over Here' is campy synth funk at its best, "Are You Ready For Me" is a toughened up keys n guitars workout and "Oooh, Baby, Baby" is a driving vocoder-led jam.

Review: The cheeky scamps at Editorial can usually be relied on to bring the goodness. This latest split EP is, predictably, bulging with highlights. Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee drop a bit of deep house/rubbery disco fusion on the head-nodder's fave "The Way You Move", while Aussie Jad & The Ladyboy ops for a sinewy, seductive, ultra-deep house vibe on his sumptuous "Love Is". B-Jam's "Have Some" is an almost X-rated chunk of electrofunk cut-up madness, all backwards cuts, grunting grooves and stuttering edits. There's a dash of straight-up disco in the form of Joutro Mundo's stretched-out "Body Heat", while Tonbe impresses with "Hot Ivy", a hip-grinding slice of electrofunk badness with analogue synths by the shipload.

Review: Tonbe's latest, the fairly self-explanatory 'Nu Disco Meets Synthwave Vol 1', packs a whopping 20 tracks, but while the Serbian nu-disco don puts out plenty of hefty releases, this one's a little different, serving as a kind of 'best of' compilation, with six of the tracks served up in both vocal and instrumental versions. As such, regular buyers may have much of what's here already, but no matter, because this reviewer has spent the past two years telling anyone who's interested (and quite a few that weren't) that the stab at the 0:31 mark in 'Easy Dancin' is the most perfect three seconds of audio recorded so far this millennium, and now here's a chance to do so all over again... a great collection from a great producer.

Review: It would be fair to say that Yam Who's Midnight Riot imprint is good at spotting talent on smaller labels and giving them a bit of a push. The latest to receive this treatment is Tonbe (AKA Serbian producer Milos Djordjevic). The Big Game Fishing EP is arguably his strongest EP to date, and sees him going deeper into disco production whilst retaining his usual house-friendly dancefloor sensibility. Opener "Original Tool" - all rousing horns, clipped guitars, smothering organs and chunky beats - is particularly potent. The deep house-boogie fusion "Money Maker" is tasty, too, while "Explore Your Fantasy" expertly layers parping horns and funk guitars over a slap bass-propelled groove. Closer "Disco Nights" - a breezy, summery nu-disco jam destined for heavy rotation in sunny climes - is also pretty nifty.

Review: It's only been five months since Disco Fruit overlord Tonbe (real name Milos Djordjevic) offered up his fourth full-length excursion, but he's already offering up album number five. The Serbian producer begins with a squelchy synth-funk cover of Queen Classic "Another One Bites The Dust" (renamed "Another Bite") and ends with the cowbell-laden nu-boogie smoothness of "Sunny August"; in between, you'll find a fine selection of colourful, synth-heavy workouts that successfully blend bold melodies and ear-catching chords with beats that variously touch on house, disco, Italo, freestyle and electro. It's a coherent and entertaining set with plenty of dancefloor-ready club cuts for all those who dig melody-driven nu-disco.

Review: Serbia's Milos Dordevic, AKA Tonbe/Loshmi, proves his mastery of the nu-disco game in just two tracks here! Submission 1: opener 'Easy Dancin', which has a wistful female vocal, spacey Dave Lee-esque Rhodes doodles and, most importantly, what is possibly the greatest stab ever recorded (check it at 0:32). Submission 2: 'Ram Tam Tam', which (after another excellent stab) centres around a rising Hammond riff that never quite resolves - ideal for building energy levels to fever pitch just before you drop that "right, everyone up!" anthem. Four more solid nu-disco/boogie cuts are just the icing on what's already a pretty unmissable cake.

With such a prolific output, it's all the more wonder that the Serbian nu-disco stalwart manages to maintain the quality standard - but make no mistake, quality is what you get here. One or two tracks (eg opener 'Live My Life') veer a little too far down the pop route, but just check out the strutty 'This Is Party', euphoric Hammond workout 'Change The Mood' or the jazz-tastic closing triptych that begins with 'Keep On Moving, Keep On Grooving' and you'll surely agree that Tonbe is a rare talent indeed.

Review: It's been an epic year so far for Milos Djordjevic. Kicking off with his debut album and a string of lavish originals on the likes of Editorial, Midnight Riot and Manuscript, here we find him launching his own label Disco Fruit, and he's doing it with a vibrant trio of cuts that sit pretty in the endless green pastures between the lands of house and disco. "Bring Out The Love" wades into the fray with a lolloping DFA style bassline and Paqua-style slinky guitar washes, "Don't Make Me Wait" struts with Joey Negro-level string-striking disco fever while "Keep Moving" ups the jack factor with a set of crunchy drums, an array of cosmic disco bubbles and a bassline so funky you'll be convinced it's 2003 all over again. At the other end of the spectrum are artists like Tonbe, who are seemingly capable of knocking together an album's worth of material by lunchtime, and frequently do! Both approaches can, of course, turn up gold - in this case, see the wonky Hammond shuffle that is 'Funker', or the summery good-time funk of 'Pontiac GTO'. This latest offering also finds Tonbe exploring poppier territory on cuts like 'Sugar' and 'Don't Let Me Go'.

Review: By anyone's standards, this is a bumper selection of re-edits from Disco Fruit big cheese Tonbe. Amongst the 12 tracks you'll find a head-nodding chunk of horn-heavy funk ("It's Not Over"), a tooled-up peak-time disco-funk smasher ("The Beginning"), some Talkbox-sporting P-funk madness ("Never Enough"), a dash of deep space Italo-disco/electrofunk fusion (the superb "Unreal") and even a big dollop of hands-in-the-air piano house fun (skipping, turn of the '90s workout "I Can't Help Myself" and the slightly deeper but no lass glassy-eyed "Love And Sunshine"). It's the kind of collection that DJs will want to keep on their USB sticks at all times; it's not just the diversity that impresses, but also Tonbe's high quality threshold. Review: The productive Milos Djordevic once again dons the Tonbe alias for his seventh EP of 2014. Like many of his singles, the Forgotten EP sees the Serb join the dots between disco, house, soul and boogie with the assistance of some killer samples and more than one eye on the dancefloor. The real killer here is "Without Action", a swinging, bumpin' house jam that makes great use of a driving but rubbery boogie bassline and crunchy funk guitars. There's more of a classic disco feel to the sweltering grooves, compressed bass, deep house chords and clipped guitars of "After Vision", while "Expectation" layers deliciously tactile P-funk synths over a dreamy, evocative deep house groove.

Review: Although he's released a multitude of singles of late, this new long player by Serbian nu-disco buccaneer Tonbe (aka Milos Djordevic) boasts all new material. Everything he's explored in the past - disco, boogie, electro and house are all present and correct over the course of these nine funky workouts. Highlights include the slightly cold, early 80s new-wave-house of "I Feel Your Love", the sensuous and smoky, late night Metro Area-isms of "Giving A Rush" and the slow-mo synth-pop-body-music of "Little Things".

Review: The disco missives from Serbia are coming thick and fast courtesy of on-fire nu-disco buccaneer, Tonbe. Released by Disco Fruit, the West Side EP is his most bumper packed release yet, boasting five new cuts to choose from. The G-funk vibes of his previous releases are absent, with this single veering more towards soulful retro disco/funk with housey beats. Highlights include the smooth soul shuffle of opener "New Life", sleazy piano-beat brooder "Written Off" and the floaty, orchestrated, cloud nine bliss of "Sea Love".

Review: It seems that the relationship between Serbian disco meister Tonbe and the Disco Fruit label is growing stronger as he appears to be sticking with the label more and more of late. His latest EP, Shoot Me Up, is literally tingling with disco fever, spread over a healthy six tracks. Highlights include the Les Rhythmes Digitales-esque good times electro boogie of the title track, the quirky, chopped up synth jam "Rare Groove Part 3" and the seven-minute long rolling funk monster "First Look".

Review: When it comes to serving up tried-and-tested re-edits with beefed-up bottom end, Disco Fruit main man Tonbe can usually be relied upon to deliver the goods. This EP appears less than three months after his most recent edits album and contains four more reasons to be cheerful. He begins with the rubbery bounce of "Gem Picker", where a deep, trumpet-laden jazz-funk workout is given a gentle house makeover, before sticking a size 12 boot up the backside of what sounds like a Robert Owens-voiced deep house cut. "Rough" is a cheery, horn-heavy romp through European disco-funk pastures, while "Get Loose" sees the Serbian layer sparkling piano riffs and mazy synth lines over a hip-wiggling house beat.

Review: Prolific Serbian producer Tonbe (aka Milos Djordjevic), sticks to his own Disco Fruit label for his latest missive, the "Dance & Romance EP". There are four new jams to groove to - the clavinet-driven space funk of "Clavs Rules", the raw trumpet fuelled title track, the 70-style wah-wah guitar freakout "Four Roses" and the lively filtered boogie of "Once Again".

Review: Serbia's Milos Djordjevic has been sonically branching out of late, stepping beyond the nu-disco formula to re-edit other genres that tickle his fancy. Here he tackles g-funk in fine style, delivering five blunt-smokin' west coast jams all souped up with disco beats. Highlights include the funked up electro-pop-hop of "Rhapsody", the smooth and shimmering sleepy fender rhodes dreamer "Shots" and the pumpin synth-heavy looper "How We Do This". Ain't nothin but a (disco) g-thang!

Review: By now, we should all know what to expect from Serbian scalpel maestro Tonbe. His frequent EPs are aimed fairly and squarely at the dancefloor, delivering a mixture of re-edits, reworks and sample-heavy productions that don't try too hard to impress. This latest EP is full of such cheery, tried-and-tested cuts, from the rolling jazz breaks, comfy Rhodes stabs and fluttering soul vocals of "Gambling Face", and punchy disco-house flavours of "Sweet Love", to the rich, organ-flecked soulfulness of "Those Days", and riotous, disco-goes-hip-house opener "Don't Mess With Us". In other words, it's another rock-solid collection of tasty peak-time bangers from one of the edit scene's most reliable producers.

Review: It's a reflection of Tonbe's impressive productivity that his "Best Of" series has now notched up a third volume. Happily, the quality threshold remains pleasingly high, with the Disco Fruit founder gathering together tried-and-tested re-edits, reworks and original productions that combine rock solid, club-ready grooves with lashings of classic disco, boogie and electrofunk flavour. After kicking things off with the Clavinet-heavy P-funk flex of "Give The Funk", Tonbe giddly sprints through peak-time treats such "Original Tool" (a soaring disco-house workout rich in rubbery slap bass), "I Feel Energy" (all saucer-eyed Rhodes riffs, sun-warm grooves and swooping synth-strings), "Hold Me Tight" (low-slung disco-funk) and "Shoot Me Up" (brightly coloured electrofunk). You'll also find a smattering of slo-mo warm-up gems, with the decidedly loved-up "The Way You Love Me" standing out.

Review: Here's a record that doesn't sound like it should have been made in Serbia but definitely was, as Milos Djordjevic, better known as Tonbe (or sometimes Loshmi), returns to his own Disco Fruit label with album number four. 'I Don't Belong To You' kicks things off in fine brass-parpin' style and 'Use Your Imagination' brings the album to a close with sprightly bass, whistling synths and a spoken female vocal, while in-between you'll find eight more tracks ranging from non-cheesy disco-house ('I Want To Hear This') to west coast-ish funk ('Shake Their Bodies'), with Zapp-esque squelchy synth basslines and vocodered vox much in evidence throughout.

Review: It would be fair to say that Tonbe is pretty prolific. Since his last outing on Disco Fruit - the label he founded and runs, remember - in March (2020), the Serbian producer has made numerous outings on Little Jack, Zero Eleven and Puro Music. Given this release schedule you'd expect "For My People", his latest mini-album on Disco Fruit, to be a bit flabby, but it's genuinely another hit-filled treat. Our picks of a very strong bunch of disco, boogie and house-flavoured reworks include the "2020 Mix" of "For My People", a sax and jazzy bass guitar-dominated dancefloor treat, the hazy Balearic disco warmth of "Easy Summer Wind", the pulsating P-funk bounce of "Thankful" and the chunky, percussion-rich peak-time goodness of "Dobar Groove".

Robbery In Progress - (5:44) 118 BPM

Review: Four tracks in a total of six mixes make up this latest EP from ever-prolific Serbian discomeister Tonbe. 'Never Let Me Go' is up first, blending late 70s/early 80s jazz-funk and contemporary pop influences and coming in vocal and dub flavas. There's a distinct pop feel, too, to the 80s-influenced 'New Vision' and 'Robbery In Progress' - both all bright analogue synths and lashings of cowbell - which just leaves us with the two rubs of 'So Real', which continues in the same 80s pop-leaning groove established by the two previous cuts and is available, again, with or without the female vocal.

Angel - (5:51) 115 BPM Hot
Review: Serbian disco stalwart Milo? Đorđević AKA Tonbe AKA Loshmi brings us what is simultaneously one of his housiest EPs to date and one of his most varied. 'Shy Town' opens with crisp 4/4s before settling down into a smoother funk/soul ride. 'If You Want Me', with its archetypal Tonbe combo of a fragile female vocal and some absolute killer stabs, is arguably the lead track as it comes in Vocal and Dub flavas, while completing the EP are the Om/Naked-esque soulful house groover that is 'Over You' and 'Angel', a floaty, drifty affair with a wistful female vocal. Good stuff as ever from a producer that doesn't get half the attention he deserves.

Review: Fresh from impressing via a first outing on Hot Digits, Tonbe returns to his own imprint, Disco Fruit, with an overflowing picnic basket of summery dancefloor treats. The emphasis throughout is on musical warmth, with elements borrowed from a variety of lesser-known jazz-funk, disco and electrofunk cuts combining well with the producer's own deep house sounds and largely club-focussed drums. The results are uniformly entertaining and enjoyable, with highlights including the boogie fizz of "Always There", the Bongo-riffic West Coast deep house bounce of "Freaky Situation", the carnival-ready roll of "Latina" and the Chimes style breakbeat soul heat of "Stick Together".

Here he rustles up no less than seven new funky jams for our dancing feet. The overall mood is that of early 80s space boogie with highlights including the Pollard Syndrum-drenched retro grooviness of "Saturday", the dirty punk-funk bass of the raw and lean "Explore Your Fantasy" and the filtered electro-funk fun of "Give Me All".

Review: Tone has taken his playful and colourful brand of house music to pretty much every label that's had a great 2015 on our Juno download charts. This week, the dance cat returns to Disco Fruit with five soulful-to-the-ear house magnets that range from the deepest of deep, to the jazziest of jazzy. The opener "All I Want ", for instance, is a gorgeous blend of disco and house magic, while the title track "Analog Funker" has perhaps the funkiest baseline we've heard all year round - it just goes on and on, and we can't get enough of it. Dope.
