Review: Selecta! Sub-liminal bossman Agro rolls his sleeves up and gets stuck into his label vaults, drawing out persys and reminding us just how on it his label has been since morning. Ranging from the twisted bass bubbles and trippy warped sounds of Warhead's 'Tread Carefully' to the interplanetary bleep drama and sweet bubbling subs of Kumo's 'Trick Shot', Agro is explicitly telling us how versatile and timeless his label has always been. With some of these cuts going back to the 2016/17, he's proved it. Get stuck in!

Many Skillz EP
Many Skillz - (4:23) 175 BPM
Push It - (4:24) 175 BPM
New Path - (5:07) 175 BPM
Nerf Gun - (4:23) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Zombie regular Damage Report returns to the scene of the crime with more bangers to wake the dead. 'Many Skillz' sets the flavour and energy levels for the whole EP. Scatty, gritty, loaded with overdriven bass, it will flatten every floor in sight. Elsewhere we have a whole range of twisted tear-ups; 'Push It' brings on the lasers while the MC sample demands you push yourself physically to the strange funky grot, 'New Path' strips things back to a sleazy, oily riff, while 'Nerf Gun' shoots first and asks questions later with its militant sense of dark, heavyweight funk. Skillz to pay the billz.

Review: Now here's something big enough to raise both dead and alive ravers: Zombie have gone back through their dusty vaults and unearthed 40 absolute crackers for our enjoyment. Flexing the full release history of the label, over the collection we're reminded of just how many bangers the label has been responsible for... And how many new-gen artists the label has supported over the years. From Jenks to Jfal to Jaxx, Amplify to Zeba, Damage Report to Damageman, 'Tunes From The Tombs Vol 2' is loaded with nothing but uncompromising underground weapons from some of the best in the game. A great chance to get up to speed or fill some holes in your Zombie collection, it's never been a better time to go tomb raiding!

Review: From nodders to full-flavoured brock-outs, Twisted Individual's Grid imprint gets it's VA jiggy on with this stunning collection of contemporary D&B blast-offs. Five cuts from across the future, highlights include the sizzling dynamics and skin-rippling tones on Damage Report's 'Unpredicted', the spaciousness and trippy feels of Burntboi's neck-slicing 'Samurai' and the stuttering drama and darkness of VariableOp's 'Duck Down'. Keep on nodding.

Review: Sub-liminal brings an end to the year that was, going out all guns blazing with on Air Part 2 featuring a bunch of wicked VIPs. Label staple Agro serves up several collaborations on here with the likes of Mentah, Raz, Diligent Fingers and Ghxsty. There's also a few offerings by the ever reliable Yatuza; our pick being the wonky stepper of "Distance" with Master Error. Elsewhere, Pyro pops up a few times throughout and was in fine form on "Smithdown Bass" and Prestige handed in a couple of quality dubs with neurofunk cut "Logical" being our pick of the bunch.

Goldilocks & The Three Beers
Goldilocks & The Three Beers - (4:45) 175 BPM Hot
Bounce Itch - (4:53) 175 BPM
Review: Don't believe the fairy tale; Goldilocks didn't have a kip on baby bear's bed because she was full of porridge or tired after her walk through the woods. No. She had a nap there because she's had three beers...And this is the soundtrack to the dreams she had. Bendy bass moans, glacial pads and a general sense of unease (probably because she's half-cut and sleeping on some random kids bed in a house she's trespassing in) combine to create the dark funk we've come to expect from Damage Report. For the soundtrack to Goldilocks running away check 'Bounce Itch' as it catches the same energy as someone running for their life through the woods. Drinking's bad for you.

Envenom - "Panic Room" - (4:50) 175 BPM
Review: Gr8 scott! High R8 are celebrating 10 years of being at the forefront of dnb, grafting at the future talent coalface and we're in for a treat of a trip down memory lane. Featuring early cuts from modern day donnies like Guv, Spaow and K Motionz, the collection takes us back to 2011 then pings us around the last decade by way of crucial cuts from the likes of Damage Report, Dub Bezerker, Nu Elementz, Sub Killaz and beyond. Highlights include the still-raw 'Blood' from Guv, the stripped-back vibe and grungey bass slaps of Diskize's 'Rain' and the haunted cries and sense of tension in Filthy Habits' 'Hidden Secrets' but to be honest the whole collection slaps and really highlights how consistent and ruthlessly gully High R8 have been since they began.

Oli Lewis - "Just You" - (6:25) 170 BPM
Parallel - "Warped Entity" - (4:26) 175 BPM
Review: Twisted's Grid switch to full blast once again with another collections of what they call 'Head Nodders' but us mere mortals call 'deep, tense, stinky bangers'. Featuring a full cast of familiar Gridsters, the vibes range from the farty party of Jando's opening 'Jaguar Trap' to the Dutch oven noxiousness of Parallel's screaming finale 'Warped Entity'. Between these two points we have the trumpy pumpy ruffage of Damage Report's 'Punch Bag', the trippy steamy vapours of Oli Lewis's 'Just You' and the air biscuit crunch of Jaxx's swashbuckling 'Horses For Courses'. Smelly.

Review: Sub-liminal take a moment to look back over almost six years of hard graft at the future talent coal face. Having been responsible for so many bangers from so many now household names, it's a mean feat boiling it down to this mere 50 heavyweight highlights. All the label's key names are on board; Guzi, Dreadnaught, Nick The Lot, Too Greezy, Kumo, Version, Vital, Pyro, Motiv and many more dust off their past heavers, hurters and head-slappers to reflect on everything Sub-liminal has stood for and encouraged so far. From the deeper, more subtle bubblers (Sam Harris - 'Coffee Machine') to the most outrageous funk-ups (Warhead - 'Cranked') this EP has everything. When the Riddim hits you, you can't say no...

Review: So it doesn't feel like we've had much of a summer this year. It also feels like the arts are being hung-up to dry right now. But at least the good folk at Sub-liminal care for us.... To mark the (albeit raveless) sunny season, they've put together a 50 (yes, fifty) track collection from some of the most exciting names in the game. From Dunk to Xav, RV to Warhead, Agro, Guzi, Shayper, Damage Report and so many more, this is the 'Summer Selection' we all totally need and deserve right now. Highlights include the Remarc levels of badness on Guzi's 'Area 51', the tension and staggered creepiness of Yatuza's 'Clich?' and the broadsword swathes of Motiv's buzzy bumper 'Necroplasm'. And that's just three out of 50. Thank you Sub-liminal. We need this more than ever right now.

Review: Everyone likes a good compilation, right? What's better than having as big a range of artists as possible in one condensed place? It's essentially an album with the ease of listening of a single, so we're all for it. Subliminal have come out with the 2020 edition in their Riddim Return series and it's packed full of bangers, across a range of styles, and it's one of those albums which doesn't try to be cool or sophisticated by chucking in a few fillers for the sake of diversity - it's just hard stuff here. It works great, with Sam Harris' tendency for muscular minimosity coming on loud and clear on Boom Ting, a wickedly devilish and driving roller.

Review: Grubs up! Twisted Individual's cooked up a feast of undead delights for the first Zombie Recordings V/A collection and everyone's invited. Chewy, spicy and full of gully victuals, across the collection we're treated to all range of flavours; the peppery aftertaste of Filthy Habits & Jeopardize's "Mind Transfer", the fruity funk bursts of Imaginary Friends' "Rooftop Jam", the gamey aroma and meaty chugs of Yatuza & Nick The Lot's "Mystic Ways" and the sweet and sour textures of Alex SLK's "Kluture" are just some of the many highlights on the menu. Gunfinger-licking good!

Review: Iron Fist is an appropriate name for the label behind this collection of VIPs and, listening through them, you can hear why. This release is a solid envelope of four tunes which demonstrate a serious understanding of jump-up's nastier end, the type of jump-up which some hate but which inspires a passionate love for the genre in others. Jaydan's VIP of Say Nothing is the best example of this, its pointed, jagged-edged basslines are cutting and penetrating at the same time, snappy drums lie underneath and the whole tune is packaged with effortless finesse. Check out the others for some of the hardest-hitting D&B around.

Review: Forget your daft screechy dubstep variant of the same name, Sub-liminal deal strictly in proper riddims. Wobbly riddims, fat riddims, stinking riddims, gully riddims. They have done for almost five years now, and this new Riddim Return collection is a reminder of just how much ground they cover, how many super talented darksmiths they work with and how much skin of yours their releases will melt. Highlights on this 50 track strong collection (yes, 50!) come from every angle but you'd be mad not to lick a shot from Agro & Raz on their melted bass weird-out "Ah Like It", do air trumpet to Warhead's "Cop Killa" or get wonked the heck out by Leaf's concrete steps on "Hold Up". Dig hard and take a deep breath... You're in riddim country.

Review: Grid Recordings are sick little label that we regularly cover here because their releases are so consistently good, so consistently naughty and just so consistently consistent. Damage Report is a regular appearance on their release catalogue and he's back with the Neck Noose EP, a five-tracker of bubbling, jump-up influenced wizardry. There are plenty of rolling bangers here, but 'Piranha' is the tune that really caught our attention. With a creative, almost-halftime drum pattern and snarling bass flicks, it combines novelty with time-proven strategies of dancefloor damage.

Review: Grid Recordings are a regular here on Juno and for good reason, their proclivity for steadily releasing rough but energetic, whole-hearted cuts is strong and their small size doesn't prevent the release of top-quality music. The title track is the strongest on the release, with a Dispatch-esque feel to its cracking percussion and a torn, broken back end that rips across the range with style. The other 3 cuts go down a more jump-up route and, if you like Grid, this is the release for you.

Review: This is a big release, both literally and metaphorically. Sitting at 58 tracks, it's clear that the Dub Damage crew wanted to pack as many of their best moments as they possible could into the album. If you're a jump-up fan, think of this as a bit like the holy grail of jump-up and the inclusion of remixes and originals from dons like Original Sin, Annix, Turno and Sub Zero cement that fact. Aside from those legends, DJ Alpha comes through with 'The Man With The Golden Gun', a riotous blend of punched out bass synths, whilst Kre & Basshoven low-key steal the show with 'Toronto Blue'. A fat album this, and a lesson in how to do compilations right.

Bag Of Chat - (4:39) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Gavin Damage aka Damage Report returns with his third release for Grid Recordings this year. On the title track, the influence of jump-up and hard core loom large; rave horn blasts, electronic squiggles and pile-driving drum builds all come together to support a matter of fact sample that simply states 'your father is far from being a well man'. "Bag of Chat" sees the prolific UK producer opt for a different route. On this occasion, the sound of dub lingers over the arrangement as a splurging bass underpins fast-paced chat. It's proof again that Damage Report is one of the UK's most versatile and talented drum'n'bass producers.

Review: After the undeniable popularity of the first edition of Murky Digital's 'Turbid Transcendence' compilation, we were stoked to see that a second part was hitting the stores, and what a selection it is. We hear a range of rollers and minimal drums from start to finish, including Bass Antics and Nino's sub heavy 'DAT TUNE' and the high calibre creeping collaboration 'What Do You Know' between Filthy Antics and Jeopardize. For us the additional highlights have to be the explosive percussive rolls and grinding subs of Euphonique's 'Damage', along with the crispy drum processing of Tarz's 'Late Night' and Fena's volcanic 'The Lizard King' arrangement, complete with lethal bass growls and flavourful drum combos.

Review: Sub-liminal sleepers this one is for you... The UK label have just repurposed and repackaged some of their many successes on this epic 20 track compendium. Ranging from the white knuckle neuro pace of Fena's "Viral" to Dominator's gamechanging grumpy-bass twist on Agro's "Noise Complaint" via Dialogue's ultra-grot wobbler "If You Can't Beat 'Em", Tyrant's Nightflight-style jungle slap-about "Bomb", Agro's sinful stepper "Tank" and many more, this is a perfect snapshot of the label's breadth, weight and uncompromised sound so far. DJ Limited continues to show how versatile he is with the clanking, wobbling, slurring "To Be The First", man of the moment Need For Mirrors gets his slinky step on with "Such A Thing" while Damage Report gets his dancehall neck brace on with the hardest, snare-snapping jam of the set "Took You So Long". Elsewhere Dexcell add pace and grit to Mutated Forms' space-hopping bleep shock out "Duct Tape" and Raz brings down the curtains with a hurricane snare rattler that's laced with bone-chilling textures and rises. Chugging like the bittersweet taste of almond milk, "Shoreditch" is every bit as trendy (and techno-y) as its name suggests. Review: Elsta's Murky Digital look back over five years of uncompromised murk-mastery and handpick 15 of their favourite moments. A great way for us to fill any holes in our collection and a timely reminder of the label's timeless weight and sense of dark groove; highlights and power points rattle and slap from every corner. Key cuts include T>I's humungous subbed-out roller VIP of "The Gorgon", Zero's twisted orchestral cascades on "Corrupt Cop", Fena & Barbarix's urgent vocal-looping sizzler "Devoted" and Too Greezey's husky dusty dark jazz charm on "Take My Hand". Here's to the next five years.

Review: Ooof! Sub-liminal are spoiling us right here: 19 tracks and a mix killer mix from gully professor Too Greezey. Loaded with upfront exclusives, VIPs and classics in equal measure. One moment we're squelching and squirming to the wet bass on Warhead's "Bad Trip", the next we're gurning and turning to Benny L's Dillinja-esque remix of Hybrid & Agro, the next we're spooking out to the Clipz-style harmonies on Guzi's "Business" VIP, the next we're writing out our last will and testament to Agro's incredible mix of Leaf's "New Life". That's just scratching the tip of this murky iceberg, there are myriad other bangers awaiting your attention, just tuck in.

Review: Damage Report returns to Twisted's recently revived Grid imprint with another absolute shredder-fest. Six-tracks deep, it's mean, it's raffish, it's toxic, it's rolling, it's hooky; ain't nobody messing around right here. "Frankenstein" is every bit as freaky as its title suggests, "Don't Offend Me" ignites with an almost trancey feel before dropping into a late 90s Bristol steppy sound, "Banana Tree" is a bongo-busting rattler that purrs with subby goodness, "It's Alive" is a stripped back spook-fest that wouldn't go amiss in a Serum set while "Rope Swing" leaps through the jungle with a truly chest-beating bassline and "Message Of Doom" signs out the EP with the deadly intention it deserves. Damage Report has been smashing it for several years now. This is the sound of him levelling up once again.

Phat Bottom (Taxman remix)
Phat Bottom (Taxman remix) - (4:02) 175 BPM
Review: It really isn't a mystery why Taxman is held in such esteem by peers and punters alike. He's got this signature sound of grottiness which still feels musical, a trait which can sometimes get lost in today's noisy jump up scene. Let's be honest the original tune is a banger! The bass is as naughty as the title. Taxman takes into completely new places by mutating and oscillating the sub and bringing a more chaotic energy.

The Gorgon VIP/Snooper
T>I - "The Gorgon" (VIP) - (5:58) 175 BPM Hot
Damage Report - "Snooper" (T>I remix) - (5:55) 175 BPM
Review: Usually when man hits road with a VIP it goes harder, right? Not in the case of this fugly roller from a true king among junglists T>I. Here he's taken the heavily supported and highly distinctive bassline of last year's banger "The Gorgon" and pressurised it into a much more physical sub bass sensation to subtle heads-down effect. The same can be said for his take on Damage Report's "Snooper" as he switches out the in-you-face weirdness of the OG bassline and teases us with the texture over a much more dense sub twist. Basically the bigger the systems you play this on, the better they sound.

Review: D&B demolition man Damage Report continues to batter down our doors on a consistent and remarkably prolific basis. Here he returns to the label he had the honour of debuting on the launch release - DeLuxe's Bass Legion. Fittingly, it's a beast of a collection... "Computer Talk" is a scratchy, angular robo-ruffneck jam, "Break Up" is a clap-happy triplet glitcher, "Disciple" strips the vibe right back to a space-aged two-step while "No No No" is pure genius in its vocal texture manipulation. Computer says yes.

Review: Two weeks have passed since his massive bounty "The Jitters" and Damage Report is back with another brutal showdown: "Cardboard Cut Out" smelts things down to classic riff theory as it pays homage to a timeless dynamic powered by his own characteristic funk and mischief. "Twisted Vision" follows suit with a much deeper, unique vibe. With creepy organs piping in all the right places and a butt-dragging sub slithering under the skippy breaks, it's Damage Report at his most creative, experimental and memorable. Yet another killer release from this rising star.

Review: Tyke's Holographic Audio sparks up a big fat 2017 with a hefty seven-piece from the currently unfailing Damage Report. Every release of his last year was a blinder and we're looking just as destructive this year... The high harmonics and jazzy breakdown on "The Jitters", the crisp minimal funk and loose triplet swagger of "Back Ark", the cosmic twangs of "Backspace", the sandpaper volcano that is "From Earth", the wideboy wobbling sub and lolloping drums of "Not Right"... Each track hits with its own distinctive yet consistently heavy charm and character. Always underplayed and rough around the edges, these are the perfect antidote to the over-produced, digital-finessed D&B du jour.

Review: They keep on coming, Damage Report is firing off all sorts of twisted sounds this year, and they're all worth paying attention to. Here we find him covering the range again: "Just A Sample" is a bounced-out robo bass jump-cut, "Cue" takes us on an Annix style halfstep rampage, "Phat Bottom" is every bit as fun as the title suggests with its "Quest" style wide-load sub rolls and details. Finally "Don't Test Me" tears down the curtain on an industrial strength Euro jump-up flex where the line between genius and insanity is blurred to the point of vanishing. Tremendous.

Review: There's no stopping this man this year Damage Report is nearing double digits on the release-clock and we're only just half way through. Each one commands attention, especially this dangerous doublet on Short Circuit. "Deco Dance" teases with a classic short and hypey female rave vocal and a classy bass Q&A. "Hearsay" takes us deeper into the Londoner's bass psyche with a techier riff that's sopping wet with design and topped with clever Wild West vocals. Crucial.

Another naughty bullet in a chamber that's already fired off five release shots this year, "Polluted Shadows" continues his rich run of undiluted bass beef form. Highlights on this collection include the box-of-bees bass fuzz of "All That", the snake-like subby funk of the title track and the weirded out twists and grizzles of "Alone". There is no doubt he'll kill again soon.

Then along comes Damage Report with "Tonight" where one of the oddest, off-beat, smile-inducing basses you'll hear all season awaits. Truly unique and great fun on the floor. Deeper in his bass game doesn't let up: "Head Cold" is fuelled by that angry sandpaper style riff that sounds like an enraged hornet's nest, "The Door Test" is all about the big bellowing subs while "Wasteman" doffs its cap to Annix's halftime hurter "Work For Nothing" with added skips back to classical double time. Chaos guaranteed.

Review: Remix klaxon: Damage Report takes Ironlung's summer 2015 blunderbuss "Barbaric" and adds a whole new level of drum funk. Maintaining the original spiky riff but injecting a strong swing to the beats, it's a great update on a still-strong banger. For the second reversion Lungy coughs up the goods himself with a VIP twist on "Accelerate" where the riff extends throughout the entire bar. For floors who know the original this will blow minds. Subtly savage.

Review: Cool Runnings since 2009, Shrust's PDD imprint continues to deliver the turbo-charged goods. The first in the German label's inaugural "This Is Jump Up" series, the titles and players it comprises says it all: Heist ignites the brutal bass bonfire with a classic early zeroes sound (think Twisted Individual for the modern day dance), he's followed by a slew of label regulars, each one vying for first place in the sharpest gunfinger world series: Zodiac goes all croaky bass, Tron dusts off the horror movie collection, Steampunk gets super-twisted with down pitched paranoid tones while Damage Report strip back the science for something more classical and lean. Last but not least Mq brings back the skank factor. Walloping.

Review: Blackley's CRE8DNB community continues to develop at pace with their second sensory-assaulting collective EP. Dub Berzerka opens with hammer horror strings before Ironlung updates his battle bash parade with grizzly one-note bass hits on "Killer". CRE8 founder Blackley joins the fray with a swinging, mischievous funk-up "Roll It Out" and Damage Report get straight up silly with the rising detuned bass spirals of "Make U Famous". Jaxx and Sidejobz bring up the rear; the former getting creative with spoken word samples and an AK47 bassline, the latter gets all kung-fu with black belt bassline skills. Brutal.

Review: DJ Grimeminister's Digital 101 Recording returns with a full length by Damage Report, previously releasing on Liondub International. First up "Simple" is grime at drum and bass tempo to rather interesting effect. "Know How We Do" however sticks to the formula with its stabbing bassline that morphs into nasty sub bass complete with tight beats. "One More Thing" sounds like a Dilinja jam; enough said! "Nothing Happens" sets the scene with its murderous film samples on this truly evil one. "Out In The Streets" is the real highlight here as its meticulous breakbeat riding a rollin' bassline, complete with female vocal samples. Finally "Impulse VIP" is a simple yet effective stepper reminiscent of the classic "Warhead" by DJ Krust.

Review: Want to hear something out of control? The ruffians from Hype's Playaz have come out to play for the seventh installment of the now legendary The Flavours series, and good gracious is it a scorcher. Featuring a tech-heavy stepper called "Very Exciting" (agreed) by newcomer Konichi to break you in, the second track is a deep, devastating roller courtesy of big man Philth with politically charged vox from P-Fine. The rest of the EP comes on strong with heavy-hitting tunes from Serum, the ever-gorgeous Chromatic and Nu Elements as well as some hugely promising newcomers. Do not sleep on this - you've been warned.

Review: High R8 have been putting out a reliable stream of D&B since 2011, but it's only now they've released a compilation, and if you were to acquaint yourself with the sound of the label it's here. Filthy Habits feature twice with their tracks "Robot Wars", a grizzly bassline driven burner, and the rolling caustic sounds of "Pitch Black". Other highlights include Total Recall's climbing "Zelator", Cino's "Relocate", Spaow's heavily effected and twisted "Hard Work" and Version's deep and cruising "Weak Sauce". Get stuck in.
