Review: As if spiralling into a new world of sound design Leon Vynehall remains an artist impossible to define. Since falling in love with his earlier records on labels like 3024, Royal Oak and Rush Hour, Leon Vynehall's major output since 2018 has come through Ninja Tune, including the release of his third studio LP, Nothing Is Still. Verging his sound toward something more dramatic, urban and theatrical these days, "Mothra" is perhaps this single's best example of that, breaking down into some kind of warped, percussive reprise. Broken beat at best, "Ecce! Ego!" dove tails in sound like the tragedy of a bird harpooned through the chest, falling through an ensemble of wood winds, field recordings and acoustic instrumentation. Mothra wins!

Review: Damian Lazarus celebrates the 10th anniversary of his acclaimed 2009 debut album 'Smoke The Monster Out' with a remastered and expanded edition on his famed Crosstown Rebels label. He originally released the opus on the Berlin-based label Get Physical, and it was the first time he had let himself loose in the studio - resulting in a psychedelic collection of 'extremely strange and bizarre songs.' Packed full of his inspirations and influences, and with no consideration for genres, airtime or getting played in the clubs. Lazarus is proud to celebrate this milestone in his career - going on to admit that that the album 'is still as weird as it ever was.' Be sure to check out the Moment In The Dark EP as well, featuring two of the album's original tracks, "Moment "and "Diamond In The Dark" reworked and remixed by Keinemusik resident Adam Port, rising newcomer Tibi Dabo and Dutch talent Satori.

Review: Innellea and Kevin De Vries have both separately built up followings in recent years, and now they come together for this split release on Tale of Us' label. "Das Licht" unravels against the backdrop of an unhurried groove, which provides a basis for an epic melody build. On "Mondfindsternis", they pick up the pace, with a rattling, skeletal rhythm providing the basis for layer upon layer of electronic melodies that soar effortlessly before disappearing suddenly again. In contrast, the title track is a downbeat track, with the production supergroup dropping dusty break beats that provide the basis for more measured but still melancholic melodies.

Review: Hot on the heels of the Watergate 26 mix, this split release showcases some of the best tracks that were included on WhoMadeWho's selection. The storied Danish trio hook up with Ruede Hagelstein to deliver a slinky, melancholic take on Bjork's "Violently Happy". Working together with Justin Evans, Hagelstein delves into a more moody take on house music with his percussive "Love Over Pyramids", which threatens but never quite manages to spiral out of control. Overall however, this is a melodic EP, as evidenced by WhoMadeWho's mesmerising rework of Alex Schaufel's "The Day Of Rebirth", a wide-eyed, dreamy affair that shimmers and soars effortlessly

Review: The brainchild of Laurent Garnier and Scan X, the COD3 QR label now releases its first album. As always, the identity / identities of who is behind the music remains a mystery, but there is no doubt that each track exudes quality. "Fully Focused" and "Dong" are fine, Detroit techno-inspired jams, with the epic synths on the former and a booming bass on the latter really impressing. Meanwhile, the brooding build up on "Melancolia" is exactly the kind of spine-tingling moment you'd expect to hear in a Laurent Garnier set. In contrast, "Keep On Holding" is a beautiful break beat track, populated by glacial synths. All these tracks come together to make for a great first LP from COD3 QR.

Review: Dekmantel scores a coup by signing US psychedelic pair Peaking Lights. Sea of Sand is a taster for an imminent album on the Dutch label, and it provides an intoxicating taste of what's to come. "Blind Corner" resounds to a throbbing groove, with Indra Dunis' vocals unravelling over the blissed out, textures, while on "Shift Your Mind", they trip the light fantastic with a percussive, bongo-heavy backing. "Hypnotized" sees the pair delver a slower, dubbed out arrangement. Keeping the listener guessing, "I Can Read Your Mind" is a wonderfully hypnotic, spaced out Italo Disco affair and "Noise of Life" sees Peaking Lights delve into dreamy electronic pop.

Review: Australia's Balance Music is known for its quality mixes by the very finest in the underground music circuit. With previous compilations by the likes of New York's Danny Tenaglia, Deetron and Funk D'Void, among others, this is as close to a Fabric mix as you can get without those shiny tin cases. Ex-minimal legend turned all-out techno queen Magda steps up for number 27 in the series, and it's nothing but vibes on this one. Amalgamating shreds of stripped back techno - Marcel Dettmann, DVS1, Samuli Kemppi - together with newer, more underground sounds from some of the most cutting-edge labels around - Marco Bernardi's Sandman project, TTT's Minor Science, XDB and Shackleton - the Minus legend shows why she's still one of the best in the game and a true expert at evolving her aesthetic. A great mix, dig in.

Review: Hot on the heels of FUSE London's tenth anniversary celebrations comes "A Decade of Rave", the long promised debut album from resident DJ/producer Enzo Siragusa. It's an intriguingly eclectic but surprisingly coherent affair, with Siragusa complimenting his usual low-slung tech-house heaviness (see "Beautiful Emi", the creepy "Mysterious" and the acid-flecked "Stromboli") and booming techno floor-fillers ("Voodoo" and the sub-heavy "Deeper Inside") with tracks that doff a cap to chill out room ambient ("Lost & Found in '93"), speed garage ("Rollin' Riddim") and deep, spaced-out electronica (the powerful sub-bass, twinkling electric piano solos and dubbed-out beats of opening track "Good Night").

Review: Dial drops the third and final remixes of tracks from Ben Kaczor's Petrovo Uho album. This volume offers a diverse spectrum of sounds without moving from Dial's core aesthetic. The Vida Voyage version of "Ludilo" is a gentle ambient piece, with the third Sebastian Mullaert take on "Katamaran" following a similar direction. Mullaert's other takes on the same track are in a different vein. The first remix is a breezy house track, followed by a hypnotic, deep techno version. Shifting gears again, Christine Benz's take on "Oluja" is a tripped out minimal affair, while the Markus Suckut interpretation of "Ludilo" is a robust, rolling affair, powered by steely drums.
