Review: Seven years on from the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, Kevin McAuley has finally delivered a follow-up. Pleasingly, there's no grandiose conceptual theme or attempt to shoehorn in weaker tracks in a bid to showcase versatility; instead, McAuley has just done what he does best, namely delivering fearsome dancefloor workouts that blur the boundaries between techno, UK bass and the more warped and intense end of analogue house. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, from the wobble bass-propelled, warehouse-ready heat of 'Instillation' and the sub-heavy, post-UKG shuffle of 'Hole Away', to the heavy-stepping, R&B vocal-sampling breathlessness of 'If' and the big room-ready techno hypnotism of 'Changing Channels'. He even provides his own twisted take on uplifting trance via the brilliantly hectic and rushing 'Bad Lines'.

Review: Victor Shan has long been one of Germany's premier rave revivalists, with a trademark sound - best exemplified by his periodic outings on Running Back - that evokes mental images of turn-of-the-90s warehouse parties and smoke-filled basement bashes. His belated return to Gerd Janson's imprint once again pushes this sonic aesthetic to the fore, with the title referencing the Chicago venue of the same name that helped birth house music. It's full-throttle, hands-in-the-air music from the off, where stab-happy, breakbeat-powered stomper 'Abfahrt' is followed by the 'Apache'-sampling excitement of 'Strobe Light' and the surging, Italo-style arpeggiated bass of 'Volume Up'. The fun continues via the moody 'Textura', the lusciously loved-up 'R8000' and the classic Chicago house flex of 'Shifter'.

Review: Suburban Base Recordings have pulled every favour out of the back and left no stone unturned in their pursuit of creating a top quality compilation, giving us sixteen tracks of pure breakbeat energy. From start to finish, the quality level simply refuses to dip, from the jungle influenced drum dips and chords of 'Come My Selecta' from DJ Peekay, to the nostalgic hardcore melodies of Max Voltage's 'Make You Scream' and GBH's throwback-inspired roller in 'Back From The Grave'. Providing the perfect combination of jungle and breaks from start to finish, our highlights would have to include the jittering horn melodies of E.Kude's 'Common Sens', the synth-raining shimmers of E-Type's 'E-25' and of course the electrifying drum chops of D'Cruze's 'Life', alongside the awesome vocals of Rachel Wallace. Awesome work!

Review: The Hardcore Energy team have delivered a powerful drop with this one, welcoming the fiery sounds of LSN to the table with a crunchy collection of six breaks-driven bangers. We begin with the the jittering acidic whirlpool that is 'Sometimes I Take Acid', which sees both Sharpson & Wax White join the party for a party-starting epic, followed by 'Softscape' a sublow bubbler, ready to bust any soundsystem wide open. From here, the slower drum slides of 'Don't Hesitate' arrive for a more emotional switch, followed closely by 'Infinity Pool' another euphoric eruption that sees 9TRANE join the party for another silky switchup. Finally, two additional belters, with 'The Unknown' firstly leading the way for a much organic, drum-driven design, followed by 'Rush Hour', which utilises glistening pads and catchy vocal overlays for a fiery finale!
