Review: Some seriously sweet ass edits again courtesy of the discerning Discoalition authority, a label based in Bordeaux (France) and managed by head honcho SEEN ON TV. First up A Digital Needle takes the razor to Bruni Pagan's 1979 digger's delight "Fantasy", UK heroes Imagination get an ergonomic edit too, but for DJ use only with Rare Cuts' version of their 1981 classic "So Good". Finally "One And Only" by Coutel has those feel good, summertime, soul disco vibes with a loop taken from a particular classic but we don't kiss and tell on this one: keep diggin'!

Let It GoEXCLUSIVE
Review: For their latest excursion into wide-eyed nu-disco territory, Spain's Groove Democracy have recruited Russian duo Antosh Music and Solila. On "Let It Go", the latter delivers a superb vocal over the former's cheery disco production, a lovable mixture of rubbery electric bass, bold synth melodies, loose live beats and clipped funk guitars. Think Drop Out Orchestra jamming with Crazy P, and you're close. There's a trio of remixes to enjoy, too, with Nellue's upbeat piano-laden reinterpretation just edging out Ilya Santana's sun-flecked nu-disco take and KLar&PF's dreamy Balearic rework. It all adds up to an excellent EP, and arguably Groove Democracy's best release for some time.

Review: For their latest release the Vintage label have opted for a split EP featuring at least one coup - a rare solo outing from Banana Lover, who is more regularly known as Sunner Soul's second banana. He doesn't disappoint either, delivering the cool "Queens", which sets the compression and the filters to 11 for a French touch-style party anthem. Sergique handles the other two tracks here, taking things into dreamy Mediterranean bliss-fest territory on "Chain Reaction" and later into sparse, smoky late night disco spaces on "Wakiya".

Review: It seems that living in Siberia doesn't stop Alexander Chebankov from living a sun-kissed dream. He recently founded Vintage Records as a channel for all his dreamy, palm-lined disco re-edits. Here he presents someone with the unfortunate title of Banana Lover, who presents two such tracks for our listening pleasure. "Love Cruise" is straight-up party froth: what sounds much like a late 70s Streisand/Gibb number filtered and looped with big drops that kick back in with a supreme joy. "Carefree" is a fuzzed-out slo-mo head-nodded that convincingly gives the listen the sense of having one Pina Colada too many.

Review: After pit stops in Cuba and Kenya, Auntie Flo and Esa's Highlife World Series lands in Uganda for its closing edition. Recorded over various stints at the East Africa music conference DoaDoa in Jinja in the past year, these four tracks find our intrepid pair of travelling fusionists working with musicians from Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa. First up is "DoaDoa14" by Christopher and Swahili Alley, named in honour of its genesis at that year's conference and a fine journey through spiritual African house music. Next up Esa shows off his prowess at extended dancefloor burners with a superb twisting remix of Santuri's "Min Kula" whilst the B side features Bantu Clan Vs Sarabi's "Africa Ni Leo" in both extended and remixed by Behr form. A fine end to a consistently enlightening series.

Review: Amsterdam's Night Noise have saving up a present for their ever-devoted, and here is a festive bundle, Amuse Bouche, that reveals the kind of treats they have in store for us in 2016. There are six artists showcased here, all with their own take on 21st century disco. Highlights include Ujin Ray's sombre robo-funk joint "Traum", the glacial Nordic-style synth fantasy of "Lost Patrol" by AWITW and EP highlight, the skin crawling, post-punk evil disco of "Orasol Fate" by FLVN.

Review: Despite the prolific nature of Sleazy McQueen's Whiskey Disco label, we haven't had a compilation from them since the summer. Well, it's been worth the wait as this EP boasts killer cuts by three very different producers. BG Baaregaard's "Tokyo Nights" is all tough, filtered loop-house, a real beachside, smothered in soft warm synths, kind of thing. Vins offer two cuts of shimmering fantasy cruise disco, but it's the Sandrobianchi & Tripman edit of the sublime and melancholic Eurodisco anthem "Mamy Blue" that's the real winner here.
