Review: Four40 have been known for their cultivation of talent since their inception, with this latest offering seeing the monstrous flavours of bullet tooth land for a much awaiting link up. Across these five tracks, we see exactly what bullet tooth is all about, with the moody sub pulses of 'Your Love' and crunching drum stutters of 'Immaculate Skank' giving us a truly vibrant experience. He follows up standout tunes on the likes of Time Is Now, Dansu Discs and Lost City Archives with his most complete statement yet. Opener 'Treat Me Right' is a lively stepper with lush hits and a wobbling bottom end. 'Whale Dub' gets darker and more stripped back but swings just as infectiously, then 'Nuff' layers up brain-melting bass with rude vocals and 'OG' ups the energy with a pumping old school sound and plenty of characterful details. Review: Whenever we see a new entry from the Time Is Now crew, we know it's time to pull on our dancing shoes and turn up the energy, with this latest three track collection from DJ Crisps being a seriously spicy box of rave-inspired goodness. Review: The MPH wave is well and truly underway as he makes his return to the incredibly impressive Night Bass imprint for a full length LP adventure. Having already released numerous heaters on the LA-based label, it's very exciting to see everything arranged in one single place. Opening up the project we firstly explore '-Sunset-', a gorgeous retro soundscape focussed on fluttering synthetic crunches, which leads us into nostalgic vocal doubles and sweeping reeses of 'Doubt' as the project really kicks off. Next, 'Ghost' lets fly a ferocious display of powerful drum processing and warbling bass tones, with the gnarly reese drives of 'Rush' alongside Cecilia then giving us a serious rave stomper. We then get soulful twist up as the fabulous vocal overlays and purple synthetic backdrops of '-Sunrise-' are unleashed, with the fluttering chord progressions and shuffling shakers of 'California' arriving with just as much vim. Finally, 'R&R' sees Hamdi arrive for a typically classy collaborative effort, seeing the LP out with beautiful harmonic grooves and a bassline like no other!

Now he's back with yet another full length, and once again it's packed with heat. There are deep shufflers that nod to the original US garage sound, as well as darker, 2-step tinged get downs. More so than before, there seem to be plenty of reversed bass stabs and MC vocals, old school signifiers and jungle breaks that pay homage to the roots of the sound while never simply copying it. The heart aching vocal of 'Don't Know' is our fave and a likely candidate for one of this summer's standout tunes.

Review: The 18th offering from Instinct features four different acts, each with their own take on moving the dancefloor. Pinder P has a funky house/UK garage flavour to it but laced with wonderfully deep bass heavy and shaky enough to dislodge fillings. Papa Nugs' 'Super Beagle' delves even further into the raw aesthetics of early hardcore and especially the reggae-tinted futurism of Shut Up & Dance, Ragga Twins and Hype. DJ Crisps has arguably the least retro sound, relying on very steady and sturdy, more US garage-slanted beat foundations, before the EP is rounded off with the bubbling, skippy 'Only You' from Yosh, re-connected with a subtle reggae flavour to its UKG swagger.

Review: Burnski's Instinct label serves up some fresh platters from a new name, Papa Nugs. These are of course naughty as you like garage tinged late night gems for cosy dance floors. Opener 'Gemini' is a high speed affair with exotic strings and neck-snapping hits. 'Kilo of Filo' is a super heavy wobbler with a fat as fuck bottom end oscillation. 'De Nata' closes out on more super crisp breakbeats that recall the genres hey day when artists like Ali B were knocking out killer mixes for Fabric. All killer no filler, as ever with this label.

Review: DJ Crisps is starting to make some handy garage moves after a couple of various artists' appearances and a fine EP on Time Is Now Germany in July. Now they link up with Oldboy who appeared on Burnski's other label Vivid back in 2022. As you should expect these are four hardcore and rudely garage cuts with plenty of swagger, naughty samples and bass-face potential. 'On My Way' is the standout with its shuffling one-two drum punch, distant police sirens and warped basslines underneath a timeless and irresistible female vocal full of soul. A summer scorcher for sure alongside three more very useful weapons.

We open up with the jazz-infused arrangement and glittering backdrops of 'Styrax', a gorgeous display of sonic colour, working together moogish bassline action with progressive keys and potent drum chops for a joyous journey into sound. On the flip to this, we see a legend get to work as Zed Bias steps in for a fun-fuelled remix, overhauling the track into a skippy garage number, perfect for barbeque season as the summer sun beats down. Review: Released midway through November 2022, Desert Sound Colony's 'Fresh One' is a deliciously difficult to pigeonhole affair that combines elements of electro, techno and tech-house. This fine suite of revisions takes the track in umpteen new directions too. The EP-opening CalMCee version is a druggy, low-slung tech-house tweak, the Shli remix a bustling breakbeat affair, and the Stolen Laptop remix a blend of ULG, electro and post-dubstep heaviness. Those seeking breathless techno intensity should check the SDS Max Hammer Drill remix, or embrace the two-step shuffle, warped bass and sparkling synth sounds of the Hunter Starkings remix. Elsewhere, Sosti's revision is a mind-mangling, echoing and acid-fired affair, while Laurdrup's revision is deep, rolling, sub-heavy ad subtly informed by 1990 bleep and breaks.

Review: Next up from Strictly House And Garage, the crew continue their hot streak of top quality UKG drops, this time welcoming founder Skillz back into the mix, alongside the ever-ready powerhouse skills of Joedan, for a fiery two track display. First up, a funky-influenced bop by the name of 'Love Dub', a truly smokey display of quirky percussive grooves and tightly woven drum sounds, giving us a good vibe from the jump. Next to this, 'Roll To The Dance' puts a strong focus on warbling sub lines and clunky percussion for a more old school feeling, giving us a nicely balanced A/B selection to play with.

We are greeted by a host of wonderful garage names, from Todd Edwards & Flava D to Al Wooton & Baltra, giving us a full spectrum of new school garage ideas with a tasty dash of old school to match. The project is an undeniable success in celebrating the endless career of DJQ, with our out and out highlights including the awesome Soul Mass Transit System rework of 'I Couldn't See', originally from DJQ & Wolfie, alongside Jeremy Sylvester's tidy relick of Speedy G's, originally featuring Finn.
